To all my redbubble friends – many of you would know about the devastating bushfires that have wiped out so much of our state of Victoria, Australia. Whole towns are gone, over a hundred people are dead, many more are missing, many are suffering severe burns, 650 homes are lost, wildlife, cattle and pets destroyed…and the figure just keep rising. I ask that any of you who believe in the power of prayer and blessings, please send some our way as so many people are suffering. The trauma and pain in our communities is just unbelievable. We are sheltering a friend who has lost everything except her car and a couple of bags of things. The wildfire converged on her road in St Andrews from four different fronts. Other friends in her road only survived by jumping in a shallow creek and covering themselves with wet woollen blankets. Thank you everyone for reading this and for your prayers and support.

Along with many other Redbubblers, I am donating profits from sales of my work on Redbubble to the Victorian Red Cross Bushfires Appeal until 30th June to support those who have suffered in the Victorian fires here in Australia. ( Except my Cape York Photos – All proceeds will still go to the Cancer Council for The Great Australian Cancer Bush Walk www.thegreatcancerwalk.com.au ) If you have ever thought you’d like one of my images to hang on your wall, or as a card, or to use as a gift, now is the time – the proceeds could not go to a better cause. I will document any sales in a Journal entry at the end of June, and direct monies to The_Red_Cross_Victorian_Bushfires_Appeal Many families have lost their lives and whole towns have been burnt to the ground. It really puts things into perspective and gives us a huge reality check. Please pray for those dealing with the aftermath. The_Death_Toll_Could_Top_200 I have also donated several of my works to the Phoenix-Appeal – If you have time, please check out the fabulous artwork that is being donated by so many here on Redbubble! Having family and friends in Victoria, it has really brought home the impact of this tragedy! Stay Safe! Marilyn

Please note that RedBubble have kindly agreed to match any RB donations made by RB members through sales of their works. Many thanks for their kindness Alternatively, you may wish to donate directly via the Red Cross Website or at the Salvation Army Website

Many RB members are already started their actions. / Phoenix Appeal / I would like to donate the profits from my sales to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal until the end of March. / My heart goes out to all those affected by the fires. / I hope this helps in some way. / Midori

If you’ve ever thought about buying a card or a print of mine, now would be a great time. All profits (plus a one for one donation by RB) from the sale of this picture here will go to aid the victims of the Victorian Bushfires. I have watched dumbfounded, as stories of the firestorms on the weekend have been shown on the news, and having been a member of the SES during the 1994 bushfires in Sydney and the Blue Mountains, I thought I knew a bit about fires, and their physical and psychological aftermath. Boy was I wrong. Cathie.

I’m usally jumping on my journal entries with enthusiasm, joy and vigour… But today I can’t help feeling muted as I watch on TV the tragic events unfold half way across the globe in the homeland of many of my good friends here on Redbubble. The huge devestation and the heartbreaking effect on many families just leaves me at a loss… However, at times like this I am always inspired to see how people can pull together and set about into action. In a time of tragedy and in a time when the whole world seems to be in a depression, good news can spread just as fast. I’ve just read Rhana Griffins Journal Entry highlighting her cause, to donate all of her artists proceeds for the month of February to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal To match this, the good people at Redbubble have also offered to match this donation dollar for dollar. But it doesn’t stop there… this is also open for any artist to donate their proceeds from any sales in February to the appeal, Redbubble again generously matching each donation pound for pound, dollar for dollar, euro for euro… I will be dropping Redbubble an email at the end of the month to offer any proceeds that I can muster… why not take a look at Rhana’s Journal Entry for full details and do something good today.

As the Salvation Army and Red Cross are busy accepting financial support and said they’re not accepting physical goods, I was very pleased to hear about this. / St Vinnies are accepting donations of everything and anything you think those effected by bushfires would like or need to make them smile again. Call 1800 621 349 to find your nearest Centre or to have furniture donations picked up. Or use this location finder and theres a tiny little ‘choose a state’ at the top of the page. Pick a state then click the button that says to ‘find a centre near you’. Also, don’t forget, there is a Phoenix Appeal group now as well as the Phoenix Appeal account accepting donations of images for sale. / To leave messages, ask questions or find information have a look in the Phoenix Forums

We have all read & seen the devastating news about the Victorian bushfires. It saddens me that so many people have lost their homes, businesses & most of all family. And it’s not just people who have suffered but poor, innocent animals have also lost their homes. Please give generously to one or all of the following & show your support: / The Red Cross / Wildlife Victoria / Salvation Army In my bit to help, I will be donating all proceeds from my image sales to these 3 organizations. Please show your support by simply purchasing a greeting card & knowing that it is going to a good cause. I think all Australian’s (not just Victorian’s) need to get behind this as it is the worst disaster to happen to us. So far 173 people have lost their lives & it’s only going to get worse. It’s not just money you can donate, you can give blankets, clothes, toys, food, furniture. People are even giving their cars to families who need them most. The generosity in everyone is amazing & I hope everyone helps out in one way or another. Thank you for your support. / Paula Delley

When Vicki Ferrari asked me to help her create a tshirt how could I say no? Especially when its for the Wildlife Appeal. Both of the generous accounts of Phoenix Appeal and Wildlife Appeal are zooming along and generating much needed funds for those affected by the Victorian Bushfires. I’m asking all of you to at least have a look at all the generously donated artworks, photos, calendars and clothing. Who knows, maybe you’ll find that perfect birthday present or that unique gift for any occasion. Or what about something for my favourite occassion… the UnBirthday!! When you find something for somebody (even for yourself) and their birthday isn’t for months and months!! Somebody even had a fantastic idea that we could all have a commemorative item in our cupboards or on our walls, reminding us of the wonderfully generous and helpful world we live in. And we could do as some have done for sportspeople… frame the tshirt and hang it on the wall. / (I think its daft but many like this idea… I prefer to wear my clothes). I apologise to whoever mentioned this because it was more than 5 minutes ago and I can’t remember where I read it!! It was probably Adgray or Anne or Soxy or JemimaLovesBigTed or Christopher or Vicki or Cynthia. / This is another tee you might like to have in your cupboard, hanging around looking marvellous!! Or you could do as I do, wear it with pride like I do with all my bubbleshirts :D / This tee is available through both the Phoenix Appeal and the Wildlife Appeal. I donated to both because I couldn’t choose between them! They both are helping so many that are affected from these horrific bushfires… which may I remind you, are still burning strongly throughout Victoria. Not that the media are flapping about them anymore… they’re not in direct danger to larger towns. But many farmers and communities are still too close to the fires and are losing homes, land/feed and animals (both domestic and wild) and the air they all breathe is choked with smoke. I’ll get down off my soapbox now, but I just wanted to say what I thought. Its so easy to get back to the regular life we all lead when we’re not directly affected by all this. That’s why helping with the appeals is so important to me. And I wish to publically apologise to both appeals as well. Work has taken me away from here for over a week and will continue until after this coming Tuesday… after then I’ll be back helping out all I can. Christianne, from the Facebook group of Victorian Fires, Shoeboxes of Love, is still looking for help. Not only are they needing more boxes of love, but they desperately need a truck or van to get all the boxes from Adelaide, South Australia to Victoria. That’s a fb link, so if you want to help but aren’t on fb, let me know and I can get the information and contact details to you. If you are someone in Adelaide (or know somebody) who would like to donate the use of a truck or van, please contact Christianne. I wish you all a fantastic weekend and hope you are all happy and safe. / Happy bubbling, / xx
