  • Granite Island causeway, Victor Harbor, South Australia in the early evening.

  • Late evening shot of the Causeway to Granite Island, Victor Harbor.

  • The Causeway Victor Harbor on a misty morning. A special spot with my fathers ashes having been spread here at his favorite fishing spot. Every time I visit the Causeway it is bathed in different light and weather.

  • Port Elliot, South Australia. ShutterSpeed: 0.8sec / f/stop:22 / ISO:100 / Lens:10-20mm /

  • Late afternoon sun going down and standing on the reverse side of the Causeway to Granite Island South Australia. The light shining through under the structure from the setting sun was quite vibrant especially with the backdrop of a brooding winters sky. I know I have many images of this on my site but I just love the way it changes with every visit. Plus having my fathers ashes spread off the Causeway makes this a special place to visit. HDR merge of three images within photoshop.

  • Last light again, looking South from the Causeway at Victor Harbor along the Esplanade across the ocean. Quite dark and brooding but available lighting was troublesome here. Canon 400D, HDR and adapted in Photomatix 2.5. Best Viewed large.

  • Another from my series of the Causeway at Victor Harbor South Australia – heading over to Granite island. Late afternoon light and the powerful storm came in from the Bluff. Canon 400D – Panorama stitch in Photoshop CS3.

  • Back to my favourite spot to catch first light reflecting off of the Causeway beams. As the sun rises this side of the Causeway is often highlighted, showing the features and grain of the timbers. The Causeway joins the Victor Harbor mainland with Granite Island. As many of you know this spot is a regular of mine as many years ago we followed my fathers wishes and spread his ashes alongside this structure, his favourite fishing spot!!! Quite a bold and stormy sky in the background for this one which seems to complement the foreground highlights. Canon 400D, HDR – 2 shot merge in Photomatix.

  • Early morning back at my regular haunt, the Causeway across to Granite Island at Victor Harbor – South Australia. Early morning shot with light patching through from the stormy skies. HDR 3 shot merged in Photomatix. Canon 400D – 18/55 lens.

  • First light – The Bluff, Victor Harbor South Australia. A Brilliant blue sky as the sun rises over the ocean along the foreshore near the Bluff at Victor. Canon 400D – 18-55 lens, CIR Polariser.

  • I got up early on Friday morning during my recent trip to South Australia. I was staying in Goolwa, only a couple of minutes drive from Victor Harbor, so I headed down there for some dawn photography.. very pleased with the results. Canon EOS 30D / EF-S 10-22 / ND8Grad / ND400 16mm, 82 seconds @ f10, ISO100 No photoshop other than leveling the horizon. All colours are real and achieved by changing the white balance in the camera. All comments appreciated - paul

  • ALL SALE PROCEEDS GO TO THE VICTOR HARBOR PENGUIN CENTRE, GRANITE ISLAND. This little penguin is a resident of the Penguin Centre, Granite Island, Victor Harbor, South Australia. He is also known as a blue or fairy penguin. The penguin population on Granite Island has gone from 2000 to less that 170 in just 4 years! They are on the verge of completely disappearing. No one knows why and currently no research is being undertaken to find out why. The Penguin Centre runs on the generosity of 4 volunteers who care for 12 penguins who are in various stages of rehabilitation after being injured, attacked by dogs or rejected by their parents. The penguins nest in burrows and always hatch 2 eggs – a heir and spare. If the heir survives, the spare doesn’t get fed, so some of the penguins at the centre were the neglected ‘spares’. The centre does not receive any Government funding, instead it relies on admission fees from the public for the twice daily penguin feeding sessions. Recently I took a series of photos for the centre, with more to come next April when I return to Victor Harbor. It’s hardly enough. :( Check out the penguin centre here Penguin Centre Taken with Canon 5D and 100-400m L Series lens @ f9, 1/60th sec, ISO 250, handheld.
