Veterans of the U.S. military take to the streets in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate and show their support for the government after war was declared in Iraq. Anti-war protesters marched in opposition to the engagement and heavily outnumbered the pro-war supporters. This pro-war demonstrator exchanges words with some of the opposition in this photograph. A human police barricade separated the two. Washington D.C. Circa 2002
This is an older photograph that I took back on Long Island, so it’s not quite as large a format as most of my stuff, but I love it none the less. The swans, as graceful as ever stay just out of range of my hound, the intrepid hunter. But she still can’t stop herself from dreaming.

Remembering those from long ago who left and never came back the same, if at all
This is a T-shirt design honoring Military Veterans of Native American Heritage.
Memorial Day, Hampton National Veterans Cemetary in Phoebus, VA. I like this shot particularly because all Veterans appear to be anonymous. Only the name of one Spouse (Ethel J. Allen) is engraved in the headstone just right of center. Often times, the military spouses rarely get honored and they really need to be, considering how hard military life can be on them as well. Best viewed in large format.

I made a trip today to register as a Veteran. I am retiring from my full time job soon. Going into the life of captures and creation. It was a cool day and the breeze blew the fall leaves about in there dance of death. I had a chance to capture the graveyards of the fallen. And share time with an old friend. I also later captured a wild hawk who had caught a meal and then left to return to give me a shot or two. When I was about to walk across an old bridge whom held many old veterans that were lucky enough to come home I noticed this fellow making his day of feeding the ducks. I think I will share this.. He lives at the Home for Veterans and said he saves his bread they give him at meals and anyone else who will give it up to bring to his friends each day. I imagine that these wonderful creatures know his step and figure. You know it made me think of how life can paint a different pictures for so many people.. I feel blessed to be able to stand and smile at life. I have no regrets. I think when we are not afraid to love each other world wide again we will live … / Chuck..

Shot this during filming my documentary, Farragut: A Naval Legacy. This was during the flag raising ceremony at the Navy Veterans Reunion. Farragut Naval Training Station was the second largest boot camp during WWII and graduated over 400,000 recruits. These returning veterans are my heroes, as are all military veterans. (My dad went to boot camp here and I have two sons in the Navy) This was taken at Farragut State Park, in North Idaho (best camping anywhere!). View the documentary at my website cinemavaljean

I’ve recently started a project to help veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. For all the military themed art that sells off my site, I will donate 100% of my share to the Wounded Warriors Project and Defend a Defender. Please check out the websites at: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org http://www.defendthedefenders.org Both of these organizations hold a very dear place in my heart for the work they do for our military and their families! Being a former Marine and a Marine’s wife, I cant even begin to explain to you the burden that is lifted just knowing that these organizations are out there doing what they do. This is my way of giving back to those who have given so much for us! Thank You for taking the time to visit!

The Cockpit of the beautifully restored and still airworthy B-17G called “Liberty Belle”. What a treat to have finally been able to see the entire interior of this plane. It is amazing how deceivingly small and cramped it is. I cannot even imagine to fly in one with FLAK going off all around and fighter planes trying to shoot you down, with no climate control system whatsoever. A couple of veterans that flew on B-17’s in WWII were at the airport, got to sign the Pilot’s Logbook and shared some of their harrowing stories, including having to endure temperatures at -30F. Amazing, simply amazing. At first I found the 2 pairs of gloves on the “dash” a little distracting, but I really like them there now. A cropped and merged photo of my grandon, Donavin, marching in the Veterans Day Parade in Saratota, Fl. last Wednesday. Donavin is a cadet at the Sarasota Military Academy. It was a great parade this year.
This horse was so observant of my camera that he made me laugh. The horse is one of the mounts ridden by the Sarasota Military Academy Equestrian Team in the Veterans Day Parade. Shot taken in Sarasota, Florida
