Definitely worth clicking on the photo to see it large. Part of the Raging Stillness series this is a blend of 10 X 30 second exposures taken as part of a series of 110 sequential images during a particularly lovely night storm we had a little while ago. You’re looking at 5minutes of the storm at its height. The lines above the storm are startrails and the reflection in the water is from the full moon (out of shot). / Taken off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney Australia. / This is a tiny section from the original photograph – being able to blow up such a small part of the image to A3 is where the 1Ds and the L series Canon lenses come into their own. / Canon 1Ds MkIII – 16-35mm f/2.8 LII USM lens / Tv: 30secs / Av: f/3.2 / ISO: 200 / FL: 27mm Oh wow how cool – Rob Mullner nominated Raging Stillness for the briliant Pay it Forward Group with this comment: “Having tried my darndest to get lightning shots with mixed results and success, I know how hard it is to nail it perfectly…This shot really highlights the awesome power of storms, technically perfect and a difficult element of nature to photograph – so hats off to your Geoff for this and these series of shots, and your work in general….Rob. Thanks heaps Rob. Taken on the same night as these two (just click on the pics): This second pic has a link to an animated time lapse version of the whole storm – 91 photos linked into a sequence so you get to see the whole storm in 23 seconds.

MUCH BETTER VIEWING EXPERIENCE VIEWED LARGER MY FIRST HOME PAGE FEATURE Thanks for dropping in your viewings, comments and if i’m lucky FAVOURITES are greatly appreciated. The Queen Victoria Building is currently undergoing a facelift at $37.5 / million , one of the features is upgrading the paintwork to victorian period colours. This image shows “The Grand Staircase of Sydneys Grand Queen Victoria Building, and is an example of how grand old buildings can be restored ans still be used as money making concerns, in this case a grand shopping experience The Queen Victoria Building, now affectionately known as the QVB, was designed by George McRae and completed in 1898, replacing the original Sydney markets on the site. Built as a monument to the long reigning monarch, construction took place in dire times, as Sydney was in a severe recession. The elaborate Romanesque architecture was specially planned for the grand building so the Government could employ many out-of-work craftsmen – stonemasons, plasterers, and stained window artists – in a worthwhile project. Originally, a concert hall, coffee shops, offices, showrooms, warehouses and a wide variety of tradespeople, such as tailors, mercers, hairdressers and florists, were accommodated. The QVB fills an entire city block bound by George, Market, York and Druitt Streets. The dominant feature is the mighty centre dome, consisting of an inner glass dome and an exterior copper- sheathed dome. Glorious stained glass windows and splendid / architecture endure throughout the building and an original 19th century staircase sits alongside the dome. Every detail has been faithfully restored, including arches, pillars, balustrades and the intricate tiled floors thus maintaining the integrity of the building. / The visual message of Sydney’s coat of arms, on the cartwheel stained glass window, is that the beehive depicts business, the sailing ship – trade, and the dolphins – the harbour. Panel 1, on the left hand side, represents the Council of the City of Sydney, and symbols of architecture, while the letters I.G.B. on panel 3, on the right, represent Ipoh Gardens Berhad, the Malaysian company who restored the QVB. The symbols are of property developers – the builders. The bottom central panel represents the heraldic symbol of a finished building and the joining of two hands denotes the fusing of two cultures. There are many interesting and charming exhibitions and attractions throughout the building, along with portraits of the Queen. There is also a letter from Queen Elizabeth II to the Citizens of Sydney to be opened and read by the Lord Mayor of Sydney in the year 2085. Outside the QVB, on Town Hall Place, facing The Town Hall are the Royal Wishing Well and Queen Victoria’s statue. I’m preparing a new body of work for exhibiton later in the year and am working out ways to present these images. Yesterday I posted a single image muted landscpe #2 in order to invite some responses to the way I preparing the indivdual images with a very muted colouring and now today I’m posting a pair of images in a way that will replicate the way I want to present them. I’m thinking that I would do either three or four pairs of linked images individually framed but hung together in a series of pairs so that they will sort of look like this one….... Each photograph will be printed at around 20×24 inches and then with the matting and framing I estimate each pair will need about 2 metres of wall space for hanging. Let me know what you all think while I’m open to suggestions with this body of work and I’ll listen to all suggestions….... ta muchly in advance…...

Hello! Another week another RedBubble release. This week there’s a couple of new things – the ability to bulk delete BubbleMail and a sneak preview of a the RedBubble ‘private site’. The private site is designed to allow you to create a site showcasing just your work. The thinking behind the private site is that RedBubble needs to evolve into a much more dynamic website. Everyone wants different things from RedBubble. Some folks are here for the learning, some are here to sell, some are here for the positive feedback, some are here to be entertained. Et cetera. We’re never going to be able to create one static site that satisfies all needs, so over the next little while we’re going to evolve RedBubble into a much more dynamic site that people can tailor and adapt to suit their needs. The private site is still a few weeks away from public release, but we’ve got a very very early beta product ready for today and I’ll like to show you all an example and ask for your feedback. The example site can be found here and I’d particularly value general feedback on the new configuration menu which appears to the right of the large images (the menu is still a work in progress) and the options you’d like to see us offer in the private site as we build it out over the next couple of weeks. And finally we stumbled across this review of RedBubble a couple of days ago. We love these reviews and they’re great for improving the Google rank of RedBubble and all the work on RedBubble. So if you feel like writing about RedBubble please ‘go nuts’. The more links back to RedBubble the better. You might also want to check out all the tools for linking to RedBubble available here. Have a great week! Peter
Thought since this seems to be my most popular piece I should perhaps upload a version of it big enough for those who care for it to have access to BIG PRINTS. So here you are then :) - Paul. Through A Glass Darkly. By Paul D Robertson Pastels 140 cms x 97 I like this piece very much. Sometimes in my work I can witness myself taking leaps of quality, and I believe that this is one of those times. It is an indescribable sensation to see my own hands make something such as this. I begin the with a person, a woman, before me, some materials – paper, chalk, paint. At the end of the slow still hours quickening my fingers, I surface from the fugue and wake from the trance of working. And sometimes I have something before me that is beautiful that did not exist, that what the world did not hold before I began. And it will last for centuries. I love the idea of obscured reflections and scattered and refracted light – my desire to work is pushed further every time I stumble upon something I know I must pursue. In many of my works, whenever it is practical, I will place a left-hand print on a wall or smudging a piece of glass. I have done this for years, and I will never stop. Recently the idea occurred to me that since this has become one of the defining symbols within my work, I could execute a piece based entire on the idea. So I made it happen. I forced it into existence. And I am so left handed, you see, that I almost walk with a limp.
The same image as earlier but with lots more snow painted in and I’ve painted in Father Christmas’s arm outstretched, and footsteps through the snow. I’ve added a light effect and played around with the brightness, contrast and midtones. / Beware….....This could become an obsession.

Starry Night over the Rhone (September 1888) is one of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings of Arles at night; I Did my homage / version 24 by 36 inches on stretched canvas in Acrylic ..done with my own sensibilities while keeping the original painting very much in my thoughts..I Hold Vincent in the highest esteem , go to you tube and listen to ” Starry Starry night ” sometime.. What a moving song an lyrics. *my original painting is for sale too just inquire , .this work was featured in ImageWriting (2/24) and also in the Feature fraternity / Your comments highly valued and respected . Here’s the wonderful moving Lyrics to Don Mcleans song ..... / Starry, starry night. / Paint your palette blue and grey, / Look out on a summer’s day, / With eyes that know the darkness in my soul. / Shadows on the hills, / Sketch the trees and the daffodils, / Catch the breeze and the winter chills, / In colors on the snowy linen land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me, / How you suffered for your sanity, / How you tried to set them free. / They would not listen, they did not know how. / Perhaps they’ll listen now. Starry, starry night. / Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, / Swirling clouds in violet haze, / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue. / Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, / Weathered faces lined in pain, / Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand. Now I understand what you tried to say to me, / How you suffered for your sanity, / How you tried to set them free. / They would not listen, they did not know how. / Perhaps they’ll listen now. For they could not love you, / But still your love was true. / And when no hope was left in sight / On that starry, starry night, / You took your life, as lovers often do. / But I could have told you, Vincent, / This world was never meant for one / As beautiful as you. Starry, starry night. / Portraits hung in empty halls, / Frameless head on nameless walls, / With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget. / Like the strangers that you’ve met, / The ragged men in the ragged clothes, / The silver thorn of bloody rose, / Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow. Now I think I know what you tried to say to me, / How you suffered for your sanity, / How you tried to set them free. / They would not listen, they’re not listening still. / Perhaps they never will...
