“Autumn brings along a radiant tapestry of harvest crops. Walking along the many farm stands, I indulge myself in the sheer presence of these simple, yet unbelievably beautiful vegetables and fruits. Amidst glorious pumpkins in the colours of rainbow, gorgeous strawberries and glossy gourds, the exquisite patterns and colours of Indian Corn stand out. / / Piled casually upon each other in baskets, the corn ears make a delightful array of vibrant beauty. Gleaming like tiny jewels, each corn grain bears a distinctive colour. Golden hues, brown turning into copper, mauve turning into magenta, chartreuse, pink mixed with orange, pure white and pitch black. Each grain weaves a pattern meticulously designed. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, in a closer approach, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour of each Indian Corn grain is goverened by genes. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival. / / As myriad colours happen in a single corn ear, each one is unique in its design. Like a miraculous tapestry, Indian Corn humbly offers its beauty to my delight “ / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I never lure my animated subjects to come close to me: spontaneity is the key. / / This is an original uncropped image. / / / ======================================= / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope. / /

I was at a red light in Los Angelese, CA & seated in the passenger seat. I saw this woman crossing Venice Boulevard and admired her for not driving. I imagined her thinking, “I’m not paying the $5 per gallon gas prices. I’d rather walk.” / And so…she helps Global Warming in the world by doing just that: WALKING. I enhanced the photo to bring out the “Going Green” photojournalistic message here. :)

This very secluded cliff side on the Palos Verdes Peninsula / We had a fun trip althouh it was too overcasts for some good shots. / I tried to make with what i had. The sands of this small rocky beach were nothing but crushed shells and black stone. No true sand. And of course sediment below it from the faces of the clif (crazy lime stone) / yes there is some sea weed mixed in the hike down seen here / thats my sis and bro below on the way down

“In hot summer afternoons, dragonflies dance in the warm air. Their acrobatic flight defies gravity. Mastering the power of obstacle avoidance, these active creatures like to rest atop flower stems. Yet, this dragonfly decided to rest on the ground. / / “Seemingly indifferent to my proximity, it remained motionless basking in the sun. I approached carefully to appreciate this beautiful individual. The delicate wing pattern is a masterful piece of art. / / “The turquoise and green colours of the dragonfly body gleam like jewels.” / / / =========================================================== / Few may be aware that Dragonflies in Massachussetts, USA are an endangered species listed in the U.S. Endangered Species Act (U.S. ESA). / / All proceeds from the sales of this image of a local Dragonfly will be donated to: / / Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / Carmen, creator of Art for Conservation

“Always glancing skywards wishing for the brief appearance of a bird, I started discovering nests built in unusual yet very convenient places from the bird’s point of view. / / In a display of urban adaptation, these nests follow the shape of the element containing them, in most cases, huge billboard letters of the round and cosy type.” / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “Which one is prettier?. Which one has the most intricate design?. Which one is redder?. It is impossible to talk in superlative terms when each pumpkin is of extreme beauty and originality. / / This vast array at a farmstand made me spend hours rejoicing in the striking beauty of these simple yet graceful round, whimsical plants.” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “Piled upon each other on a farm stand, Indian Corn presents a delightful pattern to the eyes. In a woven tapestry of iridescent colours, Nature produces an astonishing piece of delicate art. / / The tips of these corncobs have a geometric design of concentric circles spreading out towards the centre of the cob. A humble staple, yet with so much beauty in it, each piece is unique like a jewel.” / / / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope. / / ================================================== / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “This pretty individual was paying a visit to my Lily. The radiant green stood in an enchanting contrast against the warm colours of the flower. / / Then, that pair of whimsical eyes glanced at me straightforwardly and I found it irresistible.” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I never lure my animated subjects to come close to me: spontaneity is the key. / / This is an original uncropped image. / / / =========================================================== / All proceeds from the sales of this image will be donated to the Center for Plant Conservation / / The mission of the Center for Plant Conservation is to conserve and restore the rare native plants of the United States. The Western Lily (Lilium occidentale) is an endangered plant species in the states of California and Oregon. Agriculture and infrastructure projects contribute to the decline of this species. This plant is apparently exploited by collectors. / /

“While strolling around my quiet neighbourhood, a quick leaf turn and a speedy little tail told me of the presence of a curious Chipmunk. I knelt down and waited. There she was, peeking through a fallen leaf. She leapt closer and I started to capture frames. / / Her sweet face was delightful. The camera clicks kept her amused, and she decided to get a better view of the noisy device. She climbed up an oak trunk of a warm ochre shade and offered me her best inquiering pose –her coat in perfect camouflage with the oak bark..” / / (Location: Countryside in Lexington, MA, USA) / / Artist statement: My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens.
