A portrait of a relaxed woman, head tilted back, afro freshly fluffed with beautiful ornaments called paisley. This portrait is framed by a lacey oval shape topped with a paisley flower, stylized stem shapes, 2 more paisleys and crowned with a 3D wireframe object enclosed in a round of flowers. This is a piece further inspired by other original paisley pen sketches I have made and a deeper experiment of the most recent “Paisley Tresses”. One major idea behind this is the substitution of the main object and it being replaced with a different object of choice. Not a brand new idea but another interpretation of those great ideas that other artists have used for many years in some POP art pieces. 3-9-2008

This little carnivorous plant is a character in a story I made up one day. She’s was first created in Cinema4D, a 3d modelling program. / Who knew that redrawing her in illustrator would take so long!!! Her favourite food is space travellers but when they’re not available, is just as happy to munch on the flies of her home planet, Venus. She’s also starring in 2 artworks with Origami Man…

With Earth as the leader, the planets of the Solar System have turned against poor Pluto excluding him from their group of planets. He is now demoted to a dwarf planet. This contemporary themed image is build upon events in which Pluto was degraded and reclassified to a dwarf planet. It is now no longer part of the classic line of planets in our Solar System as I’ve been used to. It’s strange when you’ve been able to memorize the planets ever since you were a kid and for the future will have to leave this little icy rock out. I liked doing a smaller and less extensive project for a change. I had this simple idea, and worked on/off for about a week before completing this. I had great fun stuffing as many little funny details into the image as I could, and I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it! Visit MathiasPedersen.com to see more of my artwork.

She is also noted for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States (she was offered the leadership of the movement by Coretta Scott King in 1968 following Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, but turned it down), for assisting the French Resistance during the Second World War and being the first American-born woman to receive the highest French military honor, the Croix de Guerre, and for being an inspiration to generations of African American female entertainers and others.

As a poster and card this design was ‘Working Girl’, but when my wife Marie saw this she said ’ that’s inappropriate, that design is to pretty’. It just happenned I had ‘West Side Story’ playing. This is my Maria, Missouri style. I looked up an appropriate song to go with this on youtube.
