I am fascinated by reflected images – seeing what is where you are not looking.
this is the same as before, the colours of these homes still gets me…

Goldolas coming in to dock on the Grand Canal in the early evening
During my three week stay in Italy last summer, I had taken around 200 to 300 pictures nearly each day I was there – it comes with the euphoria of being in a foreign country for the first time. This was one of them (out of nearly 3,800 total!) I’m still looking through all of them to see which ones are worthy of being taken into “the lab” hehe
Below the bridge ~ Venice
This painting is watercolour on paper. This is number nine in the series on Venice. I was struck by the contrast between the deep shadow of the arched colonnade and the square outside. And just a peek of the Basilica. As it was early morning, only a few people were about and lovely long shadows. I used just a few of the very many pigeons to lead the eye away, across the square. Thank you all again so much for the numerous faves and watches. I really do appreciate these. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website
Looking towards Santa Maria della Salute at dusk
For me, the essence of Venice is captured in this shot, the constant sound of lapping water, the clip, clap of shoes on the stone pavement, diverse architecture and the gondolas tied up at the end of the day, but although the music ceases momentarily on the canals it will soon begin again behind costumed and masked performers inside a beautifully maintained Opera house or Church. To really feel the magic of Venice it is essential to stay for a while and wander the maze of pathways and bridges until you find a breathtaking “vista” of your own!
This painting is watercolour on paper and is the eleventh in my Venice series Thank you all again for the kind comments, faves and watches. I really do appreciate them. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website

Venezia. / or in English: Venice ..Italy / Folks another Cruise photo.. made last year May.. while cruising the Med with the Norwegian Jade. The canals of Venice are also UNESCO World Heritage Sites Venice is a book by itself..You can spend a year in venice.. making 200 photo’s aday and after the year you might conclude to book 2 more years ..:-) Here a Gondola.. tight a little to strong , due to a minimal flood / eb tide water level ( ± 30 cm)the Gondola ’ hangs ’ a little to the left . There are two important rules to remember about gondola rides in Venice: 1) If the price bothers you, don’t do it. 2) If the price doesn’t bother you, make sure you understood the gondolier correctly. Fact is, a gondola ride is like a hansom cab ride in New York City: It can be a delightful experience, but only if you’re able to forget the price and focus on the scenery. What a gondola ride costs The city of Venice sets official rates for gondola rides, which started at €80 for 40 minutes / Additional 20-minute increments are ± €40. / Up to six people can share a gondola. Coffee / beer /wine drinks.. / There are so many ‘wild west’ stories about the prices for a drink in Venice / Well.. I have to say.. on my two days in Venice .. roaming around .. it was not exceptional expensive / A basic ’ norrmal ’ price plus ?? 20-30 % / Drinking it standing its cheapest .. sitting on a terrace however pushes up the Price with ± 30-50 % / Same as in Paris Best to do before you set foot ashore .. ask around .. like with your Travel agent … Venice Folks.. thanks for your time and pop-in.. / (soon a few more) Tech Talk : / Canon 40 D / Lens Canon 24-105 L Series USM IS / Aperture F10 Speed 1/50 sec. A dear new friend of mine, Maxoperandi suggested that I use another technique to enhance this image. I am so pleased that I took his advice. The technique was quick, easy and made this capture simply pop! Thank you so much Max for your advice! The previously published version has now been removed.

Designed by Andrea Palladio, Chiesa del Redentore (Basilica of the Most Holy Redeemer), better known simply as Il Redentore (Church of the Redeemer), is located on La Giudecca, one of the major Islands of Venice, Italy. Inside are works by Domenico Tintoretto, Veronese, Palma il Giovane, Francesco Bassano, Alvise Vivarini and Pietro della Vecchia. A festival and the church owe their origin to an epidemic of plague in 1576. At that time the Senate vowed to build the church and to celebrate the Feast of the Redemption; the Franciscans undertook the religious obligations. The building of the church began in 1577 and was completed in 1592. After the dedication of the church the Doge came every year with the chief officials of the state to a thanksgiving service. The Venetians still make a pilgrimage here on the Feast of the Redemption (3rd Sunday in July) to thank the Saviour for the end of the epidemic. A bridge of boats is constructed from Zattere across the Giudecca Canal, over which the procession makes its way to the Church of the Redeemer. In the evening the festival concludes with a magnificent fireworks display and a procession of illuminated boats. Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. As I recognized her possibility to create whole story based on just one image I asked her to do that. Story Four Gentlemen is dedicated to this image and its absolutely fiction. Ladies and gentlemen I am very happy to introduce Mari and her mystical story: FOUR GENTLEMEN Sitting, waiting in this Cathedral — / I asked for the best. Waiting for my three other contacts, so business can proceed. / The Cathedral is not busy, only an old widow lighting a candle. One by one they come trickling in, positioning themselves in the pews by and in front of me. / The last contact blesses himself as he enters. I assume he still believes—- Maybe his faith may save us all? Enough – I begin to speak, carefully, a whisper in here can carry. / “As planned, we leave at noon. We all know what to do, eh?” / I see one rub his watch. They nodded, They know this job all too well. / The first church bell rings. / One by one we stand and step in time with every chime. / Once outside, the air cuts as November comes, the streets are almost empty. / All tourists are scarce— I think to myself the sea will soon take Venice back like a jealous lover and this square will soon flood with her love. / But now, we have no time to think. / We step swiftly, our footsteps echo against the stone bricks / Broad and Determine we travel / No one stands in our way -Invisible – No one’s eyes ever meet ours / Four in step, unseen to an unknown destination. Dear Mari thank you for your wonderful story. God bless you. I noticed there is something in this photo. Look like ordinary street photo but …........ look at this photo carefully and you will see – its not ordinary. Colors disturbed me so I transferred photo to b&w. But still it wasn’t what I want to do. Than I noticed that sepia can create that atmosphere I was looking for.
