Vendors selling The Big Issue Magazine are part of the disadvantaged in our community looking to improve their lives..they receive 50% of all proceeds of sales. The Big Issue Australia is a socially progressive enterprise that tackles the issues of homelessness, marginalisation and disadvantage in creative and innovative ways. Not only do they publish The Big Issue current affairs magazine they also run Education Programs aimed at challenging primary and secondary students to break down stereotypes surrounding homelessness, and help promote tolerance and empathy, as well as a community Street Soccer Program aimed at reconnecting homeless people with their community, & with the hope of providing them with a sense of purpose and belonging. Taken in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, it took me a little while to take his photo because of the constant motorbikes that were passing on this street. After I actually took the photo, he got up and did this big wave hello. I was heading towards the War Remnants Museum at this point only to find out that it was closed so a few minutes later I actually passed by him once again. He recognized me right away and again belted out this great big hello and then started pointing me out to the couple of people that had gathered … I can only imagine that he was saying!
