I suppose you can say I have always been a sucker for old cars, especially Hotrods. There is something about the design and style of the years gone by, that todays designers in the automotive world have lost…the subtle curves of the body line, the way the trim fits along the body, and the overall composition and style….rolling sculpture. Elegance and style which is no longer created by the manufacturers but now recreated by those who spend many a late night out in the garage building a Kustom, wielding the torch, throwing the lead, and hammering the seams. Art it one of it’s most purest forms. Creativity personified. This is quite an older shot but remains one of my favorites, the color in this and the reflection caught my eye when I first captured it. I am not a huge fan of tri-year Chevy’s, but this ‘56 was just to good to pass up. Like waiting for judgement say, there they stood, in all their glory….40s era Fords, Oldsmobile’s, Pontiac’s, Chevy’s….awaiting the rodders touch to be sculptured in lead, and reincarnated into a new life as a hotrod. Sadly, as much as I love this place, it is now forever gone. I did many shoots at Classical Gas in Eaton, Colorado….and now it is just a memory….it is forever closed as the owner has recently passed away. I was lucky enough to have been here as often as I could…preserving it forever with my camera. And while it is an older shot, it seems just like yesterday I was standing there taking this….time stands still…...much as it did for the classic 40s Detroit iron….... Red Rooster Winery, Naramata, British Columbia, Canada – August 2008 My Dear Friend, Jean-Louis, suggested re-shooting poor ol’ Rusty here in HDR so here he is…............. Sometimes when you have to have a donut, you HAVE to have a donut. Emmet* and his grumpy cat, Otis, have embarked on a quest for a tasty morning snack. Emmet’s Teacup Racer features a teaspoon handbrake and back propellor (in case of flood). The parasol sunshade with aftermarket compass just add to the luxury. Otis is being towed behind in his Teapot Buggy with turning wheels and spinning propellor because, let’s face it – cats can’t drive. Besides, he wants to keep an eye on the fascinating Fish Transport operation overhead. / *Actually my great uncle Joe, as a child. This original artwork is copyright Ramona Szczerba 2008. Another vintage abstract. This reflective black temptation from luxurious Buick. was captured in my recent visit to Auto Expo 08 in my city, Pune. It was a painstaking experience to work with this black vintage as I had to work against so much unwanted and disturbing reflections, including my own 8-) I came out with this one after flattening and polishing most of ‘em :) Captured from my ultra wide angle lense. I was just off the RB for last few days, so didn’t caught the action and missed all my friends. Presenting another vintage poem with some curves, curls, reflection and cool color. Here again I just tried to bring some life to this vintage beatuty with refreshing color using Hue and saturation tool.
