A quechua (inca) ceremony for peace, conducted on sacred ground at Pikillacta, the location of extensive ruins from the Wari culture. Pikillacta is located in the Valle Sur, about an hour from Cusco in the Peruvian Andes. The feather is from a sacred American owl, the plants traditional medicine of the area. All are now planted in the sacred soil overlooking this site for the future. / / ... one of twelve images featured in the America del Sur – 2009 Calendar, which can be viewed here / / Fifty per cent of artist proceeds from internet sales of cards and prints from this image will be donated by the artist to the Medical Association for Prevention of War to support their efforts in working towards a future free from armed conflict. / This Image is dedicated to the memory of my oldest friend, Jacalyne Sherlock who died on 7 November 2008 when the light plane she traveling in crashed near Bathurst (Australia) killing all on board. Jac was a health worker who spent much of her adult life in Canada, where the feather shown was given to me. She was a deeply spiritual person, unstoppably full of life. May she rest in peace and may her dreams live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her well. / / / /

Valle Crucis Abbey is in North Wales. My father was born in Wrexham and I love going to Wales. The hills have to be walked over to truly appreciate them. I often use ink and watercolour, but here I am trying ink and gouache. For those who are interested, this is A3 size (29.7cm x 42cm). Series of twelve images and a cover of the Hecho Valley for a project of a calendar which aims to promote walking and to visit the area. / Hecho is a small village in the western valleys of the Aragonese Pyrenees (Huesca, Spain), belongs to the Western Valleys Nature Park, a protected area since 2006. Area map. Historically, these valleys was a passage area around it passed a Roman road, which is still used in the Middle Ages by pilgrims on the Route of Santiago de Compostela. But the existence of people in the valley is still, since we found many megalithic monuments. Walks. The Valle Crucis Abbey in Llangollen in North Wales, some of this building’s interiors are so complete you really get the feel of what it was like for the monks who once inhabited it’s hallowed halls and corridors.

Folks: Vallø Castle The castle’s history can be traced back to the 13h century. In 1708 the castle was bought by Frederik the IV, who gave it to Anna Sophie Reventlow, who later became his queen. When Frederik the IV died in 1730, queen Anna Sophie was removed from the castle and put to stay at Clausholm Castle in Jutland. Christian the VI instead gave Vallo castle to to his queen Sophie Magdalene, who in 1738 created the foundation the Vallo Home of the Unwed Gentlewomen, a foundation, which purpose was to assist unwed daughters of the Danish nobles. In 1976 the constitution of the foundation changed and it now has a general charity purpose. So.. any Gents over 50 ..un married.. some Princesses are waiting there for you! What can I say, except this old store, is now, and has been a thriving tourist, and local attraction for ages! It has 3 big rooms, and an upstairs full of merchandise of ALL kinds! The main entrance leads you into the old post office, which seems to still be in use, for the small community of Valle Crusis, North Carolina! There are new things you can buy, and old things you can buy. But all are fascinating, and you can hear the old wooden floors creak, when you walk through. If, you can walk through, as it is always FULL of people! An amazing place to visit, as there are also, several other old stores, including one that is devoted to “candy”, alone, and 2 stories of it! I did take several pictures, but it does take time, to process, and post. “I wonder if we will have a long cold Winter”.. :) LOL! Hope you like it.. / /
