This little rustic lodge, sits in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness in the Chugach Mountains, about 40 miles North of Valdez, near the Worthington Glacier and State Recreation Area, in a region known for it’s Heli-skiing… It was closed up when I passed it by and was also for sale… how my mind was spinning with wonder and fascination at the possibility of owning such a wonderful place, in the vast wilderness of the Last Frontier State of Alaska…. Cotton Candy Sky.
also available as a tshirt it’s a disaster waiting to happen
Older image taken with a Nikon E5700 of the harbour in Valdez, Alaska during the winter. The mountains surrounding Valdez are awesome! Boaters need to shovel the snow off the docked boats so the huge accumulations don’t sink them!
I had a vantage point on a cliff top and was able to capture a “birds eye” view of a bald eagle as it swooped by me. From a day at Valdez Alaska July ‘08 / Nikon D40X

I managed to get many photos of this beautiful little wildflower. I was in awe seeing it everywhere in Alaska along the highways and on mountainsides. Epilobium latifolium / Family: Evening Primrose/Omagraceae / Habitat: Along streams or river bars and on scree slopes in the mountains throughout Alaska. / Blooming Time: July/August (I found these in June) / Description: Stems somewhat sprawling up t 20” (50cm) tall. The 4 sepals are pointed and purplish and the 4 bright pink petals are oval, pointed and all equal size giving it a very symmetrical appearance. Rarely white or light pink. Could be confused with Wild Sweet Pea from a distance when growing on river banks due to similarities in size, color and growth form and habitat. / (Wildflowers Along the Alaska Highway – Verna E. Pratt) Photographed near Valdez, Alaska June 25, 2009 / / Cluster of Dwarf Fireweed, same location / / Canon EOS Rebel XT; 18-55mm lens / 1/400 sec / F/14 / 55mm / ISO 400

the rose gardens in stanley park, vancouver bc. canada. if you ever come to vancouver and visit stanley park, i suggest going for a walk at beaver lake, and do the whole trail. a lot of runners go there everyday. and if you make it all the way, this is where the exit takes you. this is the rose gardens (i think..) and it leads you to pipeline road. in the spring and summer, a lot of roses and flowers bloom, and a lot of birds flock the place for food.
this is one of the very first shots i took with my camera / after i bought it in May of 2008. First place i went to with it was at Wreck Beach. Same place where i shot the duotone photo “The Sailor and his Dog” a year later. i like how sharp it came out, even though i didn’t have a tripod at that time. This was at Wreck Beach, Vancouver BC Canada. May 2008
