  • At the entry to the Langental valley, Val Gardena, Italy.

  • i heart robots! robot love :D / valentines special! xxx

  • A typical sudtirolean church graces the meadows of the serene Val di Funes in the Dolomites of northern Italy. In the background we see the jagged spires of the Odles Massif. The Val di Funes is one of the most beautiful and peaceful valleys, as yet not frequented heavily by tourists (like myself).

  • a few years ago, i thought i needed a break and took a week off and rode on my bike all the way down to val d’orcia in tuscany/italy. on my own. just me. the people there were incredibly friendly. when they heard that i was on my own, they invited me to their houses for lunch and dinner.

  • Chalet under the snow in Val d’Isère

  • The beautiful, unspoiled, relatively isolated (until I opened my big mouth) Val di Funes, in the northern part of the Italian Dolomites. Each year when we visit the Dolomites (home from home – remember I AM a marmot), we try to get to spend a few hours, with a picnic (make mine an Asti Spumante!) in this peaceful and amazing place. Unfortunately, the vista here faces north – we need to try and get here earlier/later in the day for a clearer shot of those jagged spires.

  • My five year goal is to become a test pilot for the space corp, and disappear forever in a space warp that will take me on adventures in deep space. What’s your five year goal? Created for the weekend t-shirt challenge over at agent provocateur – The theme is the future

  • All Hallow’s Eve and the Moon is high.. is this the Raven Lord I spy? A detailed black Raven head created from an actual photograph by Val, features in this very cool mystical design. Symbols pertaining to Wiccan lore add a little magick for those who love to walk on the darker side

  • For all those people who have ever had to hold a flash for someone else. This short is for you.

  • Tunnel in Val Rosandra, Trieste, Italy

  • Hi folks, I’m back from Merrie Olde Italy where the weather wasn’t great for photos much of the time but what the heck – this was snapped on the last day which was good – typical! The lovely Val Badia and Piz dles Conturines on the right, as seen from the Valparola pass, Dolomites, Italy. Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 24-105mm IS L f/4

  • The highest peak in the alps around Val Gardena, Italy (also known as Groedn, Austria. It’s a World War I thing. Language-wise, the area is if anything more German/Austrian). The view from the Marmolada was pretty staggering, the altitude was high, the ski back to the chairlift long, and (after I mistakenly skied past the chairlift) the challenge of getting back to the hotel before the whole region shut down was intense. And although I failed to make it back all the way and had to settle on a taxi, the photo was arguably worth it. It also achieves a rare (though dubious) personal photographic honor. For the last three ski trips, my favourite mountain photo has been my computer’s desktop theme for more or less a full year until the next ski trip. And this is the one for 2009. Below : the one for 2008: / Below : the one for 2007: / (interestingly, the ones for 2007 and 2008 were both taken on cheap Nikon point-and-shoot digital cameras. 2009 was taken on a Pentax DSLR. Which proves that even cheap point-and-shoots are no slouches in the right conditions)
