My neutral density filter (B+W ND110 ) arrived today. It cuts the light by an amazing 10 stops. I got home from work… wolfed down a quick supper and beat a trail to the local park. This is my very first shot with the filter. / I thought I would upload an unedited… straight from the camera…. as is image using the filter. / / Settings & gear used: / / Manual exposure / Shutter speed: 120 seconds / Apeture: 10 / ISO 400 / Focal length: 16mm / WB: Auto / / Canon 400D / Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM lens / B+W Neutral Density #110 (77mm) Filter (10 stops)

I am Rooster, hear me crow / As I strut around the floor / And feathered sharp and really do look grand. / I’ll wake you every day / Tho what time I couldn’t say / I’ll just make the most annoying sound I can. Yes, I’m cocky / Cocky from crown to craw. / I’ve earned the right / My beak will peck you raw! / If I have to, I can scare anything!!! I am BOLD – (BOLD)! / And I am BEAUTIFUL – (BEAUTIFUL)! / I Am Rooster! Vital Information (but not Steve Smith’s jazz group) Helen Reddy would KILL me if she knew I was to parody such a woman’s empowerment iconic song. I offer her my deepest apologies and plead: “art”. The horrific “poetry” is mine. I’ll cop to it. The Nikon D90 with a Nikkor 18-105 lens was used. The bird got too close for me to keep the 70-300 mm lens on that I’d prepped with. (I SHOULD have had my D80 prepped with the 18-35 mm lens but it looked like rain and I was more prudent than smart.) Actually, the bird would have pecked me if I’d given it half a chance. F/stop: 5.6 / Exposure: 1/80 / ISO: 200 (baseline for the D90) / Metering mode: pattern (a mistake) / Editing program: PhotoShop Elements 7 (sparingly tho shot can’t be called “as is” by any stretch of the imagination) / Light: Perfect natural light, overcast, bright, and even. / Creative mode setting (Nikons): vivid / Time: 11:03am, on 11/22/09 / Position: on my knees (painfully) / rooster: unnamed and not offering ID or signing release papers / NO BIRDS WERE HARMED IN THE SHOOTING OF THIS IMAGE (tho this one might be pissed if it sees the crappy lyrics/poem)
