We all have artists on our watchlist that we think are wonderful, but who may not get the recognition they deserve or their work just gets passed by in the influx of daily work here on Redbubble. I would like to form a journal entry here that serves the purpose of bringing awareness and traffic to these underappreciated artists, so my proposal is that anyone who wished to come into this journal and post 1 or 2 links to artists on their watchlists whom they absolutely adore. This idea was originally begun by JULIE LANGFORD so please be sure to visit her journal HERE too for more amazing work! Also feel free to link to their images as well, and try not to repeat the same artists as have already been mentioned and promoted. This way we can get the word out about so many of these tremendous hidden talents here at Redbubble. I have two artists I would now like to introduce to you that I have on my watchlist: David Linkenauger and Shelley Spillenaar David is one of my fellow home state photographers and takes really nice waterscape images, and Shelley in my mmind has a wonderful eye and a keen sense of capturing the right moment with animals. Please go take a look at the wonderful work of these two artists, and if you like what you see be sure to tell them so and maybe even add them to your watchlist! Also, be sure to scan your own watchlist for someone who you think deserves more attention than they are currently getting in the world of Redbubble! Let’s make this a huge success!

"The FACTS"

I been quiet and listening to all rantings and nonsence however many have asked me to state my site of the story…well here it is… I know that most members on RB reading the The TRUTH It is my time to speak out…I been asked by my friends here on RB to post this and clear few confusions here… First of all I been forced out of AMERICA’s NATIONAL PARKS and WILDLIFE Habitat group and replaced with other hosts…As a founder of the group and one who kept quality work in the group i dont see how disagreement with another photographer can play in a role to be forced OUT of my group….A lots of work has been put into that group and plans….and now to see that group go its just being very UNFAIR on part of RB….I havent been given even chance to say goodbye to members of that group…It was done in matter of the seconds….and many members yet to realize what happen….How unfair Second of all i dont want that members of RB be mislead that i sell images on RB that are not mine…That is a lie and i will fight that statement not only on RB but in court if this becomes serious issue…. As a wildlife photographer i spend months and months in wilderness of USA…and have met with some of Redbubblers who knows what i do….But to say that i steal images and claim to be mine is way out of line and allowed on RB to be said so…. Some well known photographers in Wyoming knows me and shot wildlife with me shoulder to shoulder…. As far as questions about CHARITY DONATIONS i have disclosed every donation publicaly and every penny and more went to GRAND Tetons National Park / Pick up the phone and call …to verify….... Every image that is on REDBUBBLE is mine and i am claiming it as so…. / I have proof and documentation to be so …if Redbubble administration needs documentation i will disclose it to REDBUBBLE administartion ONLY and not for public viewing…..that images are mine… She says He says take it with grain of salt….Unless there is a fact and documention i consider lies and slander and accusations that continiue here on RB very serious crime…. Just for the records i have nothing to hide…and i have very strong proof for these lies and accusations that i have stolen these images but claim as mine are MINE and i say again they are mine…. Its always good to listen to both sites of the story and not make judgement before the facts….Well i think i have explained my site of the story…..BTW i didnt start this whole mess…..I was accused and slandered in public and yes names were mentioned in journals and i have them… Make sure if it happen to you u copy and paste all for future documentations… / Now its me someone else will be tomorrow….But i will fight this to the last of my breath…..I will not let be stumped and wrong accused…. In my whole life carrier i didnt have to explain myself till this moment / This is radiculous and YOU are WRONG however i am INOCENT lol / Thanks for listening

Fredonia Kansas, USA - Not a ghost town yet!

I have the pleasure of having met the acquaintance of Patricia Ballard from North Carolina through RedBubble. We first started chatting when she became concerned that photos of her home town in Kansas would be considered ‘snap shots’. I went to find them laid out in her portfolio in a educational and fantastically informative format. It gave me an insight into an aging, ailing town in a place that I only know about through their tragic tornado weather and brief media experiences. So I asked Pat if I could learn more about her travels. Originally from New Mexico she seems to be darting all over that ‘big nation’ in our conversations, but she tells me of her very old ‘mom’ who’s eyes are failing. She won’t leave Fredonia because she is there and wants to stay, so Pat is driven home to a town that won’t give up the ghost just yet. With homecoming festivals, cheerleaders and big pickup trucks. Red, white and blue banners and the one and only ‘class of 1967’, Fredonia has recently survived a heartbreaking flood and the reality of an aging population against the new millennium. Here is Patricia’s story of her ‘homecoming’ to her childhood and her past. The sadness of progress is one that many face when the ‘wheels of change’ and political, social and largely economic forces squeeze for all it’s worth, but there’s still something left way over there in that little place that I will most likely never ever lay real eyes on… there’s the recipe of ‘class 4h’. Thanks for the collaboration Pat and thanks for letting me play with your photos.

Hey one and all, hope this finds you all fighting fit and happy !! Have just returned from my quick 3 week trip to the US. Was my 23rd trip to the States so I have seen quite a bit previously. Visited / San Francisco / Yosemite – loved it !! / Las Vegas - umm, well, next …..good place to see Red Rock Canyon and then escape :) / Most fav places apart from Yosemite : / Bryce & Zion National Parks (especially hiking in Bryce) / Arches & Monument Valley / Glen Canyon / Antelope Canyon – amazing colours / Sedona, pretty place / Waking up with a view over the Grand Canyon, sunrise in bed :)) / Death Valley – loved it Experienced amazing temperature changes from -5 C to 45 C. The drive from Escalante to Torrey in Utah was so beautiful through birch forests with filtered light and snow. Tried to shoot with totally numb fingers…....not good LOL Decided that I’m a summer person for sure :) / / Picked up a SUV in Vegas and drove 2350 miles in 10 days…....and saw some amazing national parks and some really gorgeous wildlife. / Would have to say that my fav places would have to be Bryce Canyon and Yosemite, though Death Valley had some of the most amazing rock formations and colours I have seen. Death Valley was wonderful although when I was there, we had blackouts at the Furness Creek Resort, no electricity for 14 hours, sand storms and powerful winds making shooting a challenge, not to mention hiking, but I did it :)) Overall had a great adventure, feeling rested, slightly jet lagged and planning my next trip :)) Hope to catch up with your work, if you think I’ve missed one of your best shots/art work when I was absent pls BM the link :)) Talk soon. / Thanks to those that sent me messages when I was away I truly appreciate it !! Hugsss xx / V

Hi One and All Am off on the 14th April back to the USA for my 23rd trip, so much to see and so little time and all that !!! Am off to San Francisco, then Yosemite. Flying to Las Vegas staying at the Paris Hotel for a while before picking up my Chev Trailblazer and heading off. My plans are up in the air from there, this is basically where I want to go, - Zion/Bryce Canyon / - Arches National Park / Monument Valley / Lake Powell / - Antelope Canyon out of Paige / - Grand Canyon Yes, there is a lot on this list and I can’t possibly see it all but I live so far away am going to see as much as I can / Hopefully having time to visit Death Valley and Red Rock Canyon nearer to Vegas before returning the car and flying to San Francisco. Being an Aussie I am used to driving long distances in areas where there isn’t much in between so it doesn’t worry me. I have GPS… yay !! / I have ten full days for this part ….which I know is not a huge amount of time but as mentioned am willing to drive anywhere and any distance to see these areas. Would really appreciate it if you could offer me any advice on what to see, where to go any routes which are best and what weather conditions I may encounter…....so I don’t need 5 suitcases LOL. Or things to avoid :) Thank you so much, am excited !! / Hugss Varinia

Sean Penn never misses an opportunity to bust on Bush. And this year’s Cannes Film Festival was another opportunity to take a swing at George Dubya. It’s really not fair to George though, considering his intellectual ineptitude. I love Sean Penn because he loves America and demands that we be accountable, and be what we should be as Americans. “When asked why so many people disliked Bush, Penn said this was the case with someone who operates “without a brain and a heart” and kills thousands through wars.” SIFY News VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO War Made Easy, Part 1 of 7

Amazing night. You can now see flames leaping hundreds of feet into the air on the first visible range in Cachagua, from the hill in front of the post office. That’s about 25 miles from town. Worry about the skillful jump ability of flame. / The sun was setting, a massive cloud of smoke over the valley lit bright pink, totally astounding. It’s getting closer. / We now have a full tent camp for the firefighters set up in the old Carmel Valley airstrip, 500 tents, men, equipment, kitchens, engines. Awesome. They’re great guys. Signs are appearing on fences “Thank you Fire Fighters!” / I went up at sunset. As it grew dark, lights on the camp grounds popped on illuminating the field. Neighbors drove and walked up with their dogs and kids. We looked at maps and got updates. People pointed, talked old stories, asked over and over if the guys needed anything. The community response universally so far is WE ARE SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE!! Zero sense of invasion or imposition. We may be getting national guard or army here too. It’s pretty intense. / So much of Big Sur burned, you just want to cry and cry. And so much saved too, very few houses went considering the size and ferocity of the fires. It sounds like all the resorts and beautiful places in Big Sur got saved, like Ventana, Nepenthe, Esalen, Deetjens, H Miller. Mostly from people refusing to leave and stamping out cinders falling from the sky with their feet! I know it’s going to be hard to look at again. They’ve let people go back to their homes and land, lifted the evacuations from there and Palo Colorado, which did not get burnt after all from what I understand. It’s a bit like hearing gossip and fiction with a bit of truth. All of it drama, some of it actually happening. / Regina and Pat on Tassajara Road have not evacuated yet. They watch the flames shooting off the ridges from their bed at night. Ty is holding firm in Trampa Canyon. Mike’s posting wonderful blogs on his Cachagua Store site with pretty much daily updates, news of crews coming in, feeding the fire guys, songs and beer and attaboys. We’re apparently getting about fifty volunteers from Australia and New Zealand. THANK YOU!! Guys here from Minnesota and New York and Oregon. It’s a thoroughly remarkable experience on every level. / Zero sense so far we’ll get evacuated from the Village, it’s still far from us. Depending on wind direction, you’re scared one day and calm the next. / Late afternoon and into the evening yesterday a huge wet fog moved in from the coast, and by nightfall had covered Carmel Valley. Good news, we were all glad to see it. The weathermen are all fucked up. Predicting heat waves and cooling spells simultaneously, reigning hysteria. Middays out here are hot, in the 100’s. / There’s a kind of stimulated kinship when you meet folks, everybody on a high of adrenalin and emotion, nobody knowing where this damn thing is going to move. Some said the shooting ridge flames last night were from the backfires being lit. They talk about our mountains as the place to hold the line, that ridge is where we make our stand, this canyon may go, that point is in danger, using names unfamiliar to locals….it’s like being in a general’s tent with warfare plotted out on maps. As Mike Jones said in one of his blogs, you get an intimacy and new respect for the land with the google terrain maps you haven’t had from living here. / We’re all in pretty good spirits it seems to me. While it’s frightening to think of the damn thing raging out of control and sweeping the whole central coast, it seems unlikely. I think they’re getting a handle on it, figuring out how to fight it. It’s rough terrain. But we’re strong. And, of course, you knew that. / Best to you all, and heartfelt thanks for your good wishes. / Barbara

USA to Legalize Art Theft

The current May 17, 2008 U. S. Senate version of the “Orphan Works” legislation is a nightmare for artists. Every country in the world currently recognizes an artist’s rights to their own work, with or without a formal copyright; all you need to do in the case of a dispute is prove that you did it first. Leave it to the Legislative Branch of the USA Federal Government to attempt to pass a law requiring an artist to pay a fee to a Corporation in order to own something that already belongs to them! Can you imagine the revenue at $5 a pop? It boggles the mind. King George never had it so good. This is something that every artist in the USA must take action against. Read about it here and here Here’s a draft of a letter concerned artists can send to their U.S. Senators: Dear Senator __, I am one of your constituents, a professional artist. It is crucial to my livelihood that you oppose the “Orphan Works” bill, H.R. 5889, in its current form. If this bill’s current language becomes law, it would permit, and even encourage, wide-scale infringements of my copyrighted artworks while depriving me of many of the protections currently available to me under the Copyright Act, including the right to ask the courts to award statutory damages and attorneys’ fees. In the publication world, the reality is that most artworks will easily become considered orphaned, depriving me of a significant part of my income. I urge you to oppose this bill unless and until it is amended to contain at least the minimum provisions that are critical to protect artists, including but not limited to a notice of use that must be filed before the use is made, upon penalty of losing eligibility to claim orphan work status for failure to file the notice; an archive of the notices, to be maintained by the Copyright Office or an approved third party; and other protections that appear in the current (May 15, 2008) language of H.R. 5889. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide you with any additional information. Thank you for your time. I hope that you will take the necessary actions to protect my interests and prevent the passage of this bill until it is amended to be fair and reasonable to all parties. Respectfully yours, / ____ Here is a web site that makes it easy to find contact information for your U.S. Senators.

Orphan Works Bill Call your Senators and Congress person to ask them to vote no on both the House of Representatives bill and the Senate bill. Both bills are way to broad and seriously limit an artist’s right to protect their own work. Even the House bill, which is being touted as the better bill, puts the onus on the artist to register their images twice, with the Copyright Office and with a newly developed Orphan Works registry, in order to not be considered an Orphan or “abandoned” Work. You can use the follow web sites to get information to contact you appropriate representative. http://capwiz.com/illustratorspartnership/home/ / (easy to use template letters automatically sends to your representatives) http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt?action=myreps_form For more information on the issue please go to: http://www.apanational.com/i4a/pages/Index.cfm?pageID=3866 / (Reasoning against the Orphan Works bill.)

whats wrong with middle white USA? are they ALL fucked up?.... point one. i have heard a few times now that about 50% of them think the world (Earth) is about only 6000 years old.! (get over it already, the bible is not true. Well lets not jump in all at once i should say its only about 99% wrong.) Point 2. why Bush??? 2 times!! (need i say more?) point 3. about 30 000 American’s people are killed every year by other American’s. thats like a civil war. and thats just death by gun shots. On top of that they have the highest death rate as execution in the world and most in prison too in the world. they even out do China.! (sats from a 2001 atlas) *I have hear of late that china does in deed execute more of their own people. point 4. Most of the worlds problems (war) is from the American government in part from them pulling stings in the back ground..see cold war, Vietnam war, Korea war, golf war parts one and two. *The CIA are international criminals. the list goes on an on. / So to sum it up FUCK the WHITE, god fearing, small minded man in power of America. Thats you too BUSH! and all of your little peons

Tornados and Thunderstorms Hit the USA Updated 01-10-08
by Kenneth FugateUPDATE 01-10-08 Particularly Dangerous Situation We are once again getting severe weather in the US. The Storm Prediction Cent…
UPDATE 01-10-08 Particularly Dangerous Situation We are once again getting severe weather in the US. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a PDS Tornado Watch box and a Public Severe Weather Outlook. Please if you live in an area that is threatened stay tuned to radio and TV, this is a Particularly Dangerous Situation Last count of tornados today is 24 Hello Friends Over the last two days (January 7-8, 2008) the US has seen a storm system move over the states taking lives, injuring people and devastating our communities. In these two days and nights of severe weather 64 tornados were spawned from the storm system. Along with the tornados there were 224 reports of severe wind and 168 reports of hail. This time of year in the United States we think of our weather as being snow, ice and cold weather and in themselves can bring loss to our communities. But we can also get fall and winter thunderstorms that can bring severe weather although our big tornado weather months are May and June, the spring months for us. Looking at the map of severe weather reports on the 10th one report stands out from the rest, a tornado that hit Washington State. A state that does not see tornados very often even in May or June, the spring months for us. Sometimes we see and hear of these disasters on radio and TV and we feel it to be remote, like this will not be me or we get active with everyday life, busy with family and work and start to think of weather safety as being something we hear all the time and stop thinking about it. But it will someday be us, we will be those faces on the TV, we will be the flat B&W photos in the newspaper. It is up to us, we are responsible for our own safety so if you are reading this with me today and you live in a part of our world that can get these storms, lets think about where and what we would do the next time a storm is moving in that has a warning. Weather Safety The easiest way I can think of to put tornado and severe thunderstorm safety is lowest level, smallest room, center part. Go to the lowest level of your home or business in the smallest room, the bathroom sometimes will offer the best protection; this might be due to the extra support from the plumbing and frame work in the walls. If time allows cover your head and upper body with blankets, pillows, or cushions. Do not open windows! By going to the center part of your home, you will be putting as many walls between you and the exterior; this will provide the most protection from the missiles (flying glass, bricks, boards…) from the damage being done down stream. Mobile homes offer very little or no protection from even the strong straight line winds of a thunderstorm, so know were to go if you are in a mobile home and a warning is issued. On the open road, do not use a highway overpass for a tornado or hail shelter. Get off the road and seek shelter in a building. If no building is available, move at a right angel of the tornado path. Most tornado damage swaths are at most, one mile wide. The idea is to move out of the path not to out run the tornado. You can determine the path by picking an object that is in line with the tornado and watching to see if the tornado is moving to the right or left, if it is getting bigger it is more than likely moving in your direction and you need to take cover or move. In town taking cover in a building would be the action to take, the roads will be filled with people trying to get away, and being in a traffic jam with a big tornado coming down the road, would not be my choice of action to take. With this said you should not be on the road during severe weather, if in your car and severe weather is moving in stop, get out, take cover be aware of your environment. Your vehicles with give you no protection from the winds of a tornado. Stay tuned to local radio or TV. If threatening weather is approaching, take the appropriate action. Getting the Warnings If you and your family have a smoke and fire detector in your home, business and schools… have a NOAA weather radio (NWR). To be able to take action and take cover from these storms you will first have to know that a warning has been issued for your location, if the storm is moving in at night a NWR will wake you and your family up from sleep. And our tornado sirens are not meant to be an indoor warning system. The soul purpose of our Civil Defense (CD) sirens, are to warn the public that are in the outdoors, not in your home, office or school, so if you do not own a NWR with battery back up, get one today from your local electronics store If you live in a rural community and out away from the cities, you may have to get a radio that has an external antenna. After it is all said and done, the price of one of these radios is well, just worth your life and that of your family’s lives. Take an active roll in you safety before the next severe weather day, go to your HR (Human Resources) department at work and ask questions. If you have a safety coordinator is he or she involved with making sure that everyone at your work place knows, were to go and what to do. And is there a way you will know if a warning is issued while at work. If you are having fire drills at work and school… you should be having severe weather drills. Get involved with your communities; if you live in a small city or town is there a CD siren, if so is it being tested on a weekly or monthly basis. On April 26, 1991 a tornado moved into the town of Andover Kansas and into the Golden Spur Trailer Park. The city had a siren but it was not in working condition, lives were lost. Some people were not aware that a large tornado was just minutes away and therefore did not take the action that would have likely saved there life. / Planning today is being prepared tomorrow! Kenneth Fugate Some links can be found here that will help you find one of these radio NOAA radio here Storm report data credits to; / Storm Prediction Center / 120 David L. The stars flash white amid royal blue, / As snowy lines bend to the breeze; / Dancing, curling, rippling red blood lines– / The crisp snap of cloth while riding high. The teachings and trust are deeply rooted, / As all the children stand tall and proud; / Hand on heart, eyes cast upward: liberty drips from little lips– / The haunting echo of words in a one-room schoolhouse. The guards have them lined up now; the roar of planes above, / As the innocent are made suspect and filled with fear; / Patting, rummaging, questioning to demonstrate control– / The price of rights for temporary security. The McCarthyism’s quiet; replaced by a patriotic act against themselves, / As a robotic, airbrushed man reads the morning headlines; / Hands on mouth, eyes closed tightly, ears deaf and dull– / The Whiskey Rebellion was the least of their worries. The stars are yellow against slate grey, / As faded lines wilt in still air; / Drooping, wrinkling, dying blood lines– / The dead silence of a flag at half mast. A whisper is left / And carried on the wind, / To fly with dandelion seeds– / To be forgotten and faded in the distance. Details / The government is merely a servant–merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.—Mark Twain
