  • Click Here / Upper Antelope Canyon – USA Tour 2008 The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tse’ bighanilini, which means “the place where water runs through rocks.” Upper Antelope is at about 4,000 feet in elevation and the canyon walls rise 120 feet above the stream bed. Though dry most of the year, Antelope Canyon runs, and sometimes floods, with water after rains. It is the water, slowly wearing away the sandstone grain by grain, that has formed the beautiful and graceful curves in the rock. Wind has also played a role in sculpting this fantastic canyon. • Well, I’m not a big flag waver, but I do have a lot of respect for my country. We have our problems just like everybody else, but we do stand for freedom. Freedom to express ourselves without worrying about reprisals. Which it what I’m doing here. I know a lot of you are not from the US and that’s fine. A lot of your ancestors migrated here over the past 200 years or so and that’s what makes this a great country – the diversity. I salute our soldiers who are defending freedom, as well as our allies who partner with them. May the Lord keep them from harm’s way. And may He continue to bless this great country – the USA. This is an image of Courthouse Rock in Sedona Arizona. I took the image of the flag on a recent trip to California. Using a Photoshop technique called Displacement Mapping I branded the US flag to the rock. / / Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now / My Bubblesite

  • Taken on the trail to “The Basin” on Friday October 3/08. Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens. / The Basin is a naturally occuring granite bowl in the White Mountains range and is part of the Franconia Notch State Park, located in the heart of the popular White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire USA / On this trail are cascades and waterfalls leading to The Basin, which is believed to have been eroded 15,000 years ago while the North American ice sheet was melting. The Basin has been smoothed by small stones and sand, whirled around by the Pemigewasset River. / I didn’t make it as far as The Basin this time (have been there in the past), because I was caught by surprise in an unexpected downpour. I quickly shoved my camera into the case and wrapped my sweater around it. Then looked for my friend Wanda who was nowhere to be found. She had made it all the way to The Basin ahead of me. I was lucky to find cover under the roof of an outhouse at the beginning of the trail. It rained and hailed for about 20 minutes. When my friend Wanda made it back, she was soaking wet. This is one of two shots I managed to get. ! • Sedona, Arizona, USA 2008 Was so focussed on getting to this river before sunset , such a rushed hiked that I lost my bearings on the return trip and nearly spent the night out here !! Was rather daunting but incredibly beautiful nonetheless. I now make sure I have plenty of time either way, perhaps I should invest in a compass and a star chart LOL

  • Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))

  • Barack Obama – Change for America, for the World, for All of Us – The Audacity of Hope On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Grant Park in Chicago, Illonois, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America.” Born in Hawaii, Obama will be the first U.S. President born outside the contiguous United States. He also will be fifth youngest President at the date of accession and the second since Lincoln whose primary political base is Illinois. This portrait illustrates and epitomizes the audacity of hope. President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. Selected information courtesy of Wikipedia.
