  • Invoking the the waters from the sea to rise…

  • Taken in January 2005, just south of Perth, Scotland. I looked out the window here late one evening to see a “cloud” of luminous green oriented downwards – “that’s no cloud!” and 5mins later I was a couple of miles away in the middle of nowhere on the road south of Moncrieffe Hill, admiring the pretty greens and reds :)

  • Shot with a 35mm film with subsequent print scanned into Photoshop for a rigorous “enhancement” effort (fun and beneficial) due to such a rare capture. Clean-up was mandated. Shadow detail and full ranges of gray tones also were Photoshop candidates in retaining good contrast.

  • A classic red/green rayed band, alhtough the green is very subdued. From East Lothian, Scotland. Probably 1991/92. / / .......................................................................................... / Image Copyright Duncan Waldron © 2008 / This image may not be reproduced without permission / .......................................................................................... / /

  • Ursa Major rising behind trees at Woodland Waters, Lincolnshire. /   / Taken on Ilford FP4+ 125 with a Lomo Lubitel 166B. Approximately 30mins at f8. /   /

  • Ursa Major – The Great Bear, another well-known constellation for me – otherwise known as the plough or the big dipper…depending on where you’re from. Created in Photoshop. Stock from Stock Xcnhg.

  • Taken with Canon 350D + Canon 24-105 f4L IS USM at 24mm + ND & Tobacco Filters at Ursa Beach, Portugal

  • We spotted this handsome young Black Bear at a salmon-spawning stream, walking nonchalantly along the forested water’s edge, scooping up tired Pink Salmon. Being only 25 feet away, he saw us immediately (could smell us long before we spotted him, no doubt) and just continued on his way quite unconcerned, as we happily took hundreds of photos of him. What a wonderful experience it was and it happened, today! We have just returned from a 2000+ mile wilderness adventure and yet we found this happy chappy just a few short miles from our home here on Vancouver Island. We just had to share him with you. 25% of all profits benefit the amazing animal protection group at: www.wildlifedirect.org Thanks for helping me to help them.

  • A digitally enhanced photograph by Skye Ryan-Evans, of a huge male Black Bear walking alongside a small scenic lake in British Columbia. He took a long look back at us, then made his way calmly into the forest, disappearing into the mist. This gentle giant showed no concern at seeing us and getting the chance to photograph him was a rare privilege. 25% of all proceeds from sales of this item benefit the great wildlife protection group Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org. Thanks for helping me to help them.

  • A cool Wilderness design from a digitally enhanced photograph taken by Skye Ryan-Evans, on a very recent trip to the Canadian Rockies. “A powerful Black Bear stood just 20 feet from us, before a beautiful water-fall pouring from the Kicking Horse River, at the foot of soaring Rocky Mountain peaks. The wild animals we encountered on our recent adventure were never aggressive or threatening in their behaviour around us”. 25% of all profits from sales of this item benefits the great Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org. Thank you for caring about our precious wilderness citizens.

  • A gorgeous Black Bear and reflection feature in this design for wildlife lovers everywhere! 25% of sales profits benefit Defenders of Wildlife in their ongoing efforts to help protect our precious wildlife. Thank you for helping me to help them!

  • I felt moved and sickened by the article posted by Kathleen and this little sketch is my small contribution to the freedom of the moonbears. I remember the feeling when I saw the first, “Planet of the Apes” movie. Well it seems that for many animals on Earth, “Planet of the Humans” is way worse! Here is the link to their site, thanks Kath. URSA

  • For the ART ACTION UNION – CREATIVE ACTIVISM group’s / URSA FREEDOM PROJECT FOR MOON BEARS challenge There is No Mark Up on this T-shirt ” WE WANT TO END BILE FARMING OF BEARS… / The Practice of bile farming is unnessary… beautiful bears are poached from the wild and tortuously bred in captivity wile they are ‘milked’ of their stomach acids for ‘traditional’ products for which there are synthetic alternatives available… “ AAU Make a donation here ” As many as 10,000 Asiatic black bears in China are locked in cages the size of their own bodies, and their bile is drained through an excruciatingly painful procedure and sold for use in traditional medicine. So they can approach the bears without fear of injury, the farmers often mutilate the bears by breaking their teeth and pulling out their claws, sometimes brutally removing whole digits. “ source They also use it in the production of some cosmetics…How F@#cked is that!!!
