Part of a series on Chapel Street Personalities and friends. Down the Windsor end of Chapel. I wanted them to be themselves, so i could hopefully see some of ‘them’ as i knew them, in the images. / They work for me, as i do see them in the images.

This mural was created sporadically over the course of a couple months at work during my 15 minute breaks. It represents my shifting state of mind from mid-August to mid-October 2008. That time in my life was sort of a rebirth for me, and I felt like commemorating it by drawing it. This piece was all done in ballpoint pen on the back of six old 8.5”x11” coverage sheets destined for the recycle bin, which I salvaged and taped together. My method was essentially the same as for my other Accretions: just sit down and draw without a plan, letting the images come and flow into one another. As always, I later scanned in the image and painted it in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Some of the artifacts of the tape and whatnot are still visible in the final piece, as a reminder of how it was constructed.
A courtyard in inner city Dublin. These blocks of flats are more than a century old. I like to imagine all the lives that have played out here over the decades. / This image was taken on a vintage film camera and some minor grain or scratches might occur on the print. They all add to its charm.
Two Girls (Earth Day at Humboldt Park – Chicago, IL 2007) A New Beginning. With all of the budget cuts in the arts and culture, soon our children will not have access to early arts education, something that was once simply a way of life for some, in our past civilizations. With a focus on creating art that is good for our environment, utilizing recyclable materials, and with a focus on collaboration and tolerance, I am committed to providing this access to our youth, because a world without creativity can be a dull and often dark place for a child. peace…
