Urangan Pier, Hervey Bay
The Urangan Pier, Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.
This was taken when I went up to Harvey bay for three days at the beginning of December. I had waited about seven weeks for an IR filter and picked it up the day I left. I only got a chance to take a few shots and the exposures were way out, I was pretty happy with this one as a starting point. Still so much to learn! (like how to get rid of the hot spot) Canon 450D Hoya R72 and polarising filters (not CP) ISO100 F7.1 74sec

A morning shot of the pier at Urangan taken before a days fishing.
At one time in the past this was a working pier. Trains once transported cargo to freighters moored at an extension of the pier angled off from the remaining section. Urangan is a suburb of Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.

this is one of the longest piers in Qld and trains used to run along it loading coal, sugar cane, and other stuff onto the ships docked at the end now it is just a fishing platform…..a lot of trees were used in the construction of the pier as you can see
The pier was constructed in 1917 and used for the export of raw sugar until the opening of the Bundaberg Bulk Terminal in September 1958. Since then it has been restored and is now a popular place for fishermen. This shot was taken from the beach underneath at sunset with a low tide.

This is a great place in Hervey Bay, this historic jetty was earmarked for destruction (half was in fact removed) fortunately it was saved and restored.
