  • Another photo of Cauldron Falls, this is at West Burton in the Yorkshire Dales. MY WATERFALLS SET

  • Upper Antelope Canyon at noon, Page, AZ The canyon is accessible only by guided tour, lead by Navajo (the land is owned by the Navajo). The tours require reservations, best made in advance, and it can get crowded. The guides do a marvelous job of keeping the groups separated with only one group per gallery at a time. The stories the guides tell of the land, the discovery of the place… are as interesting as the place itself. Flash floods have been known to occur here, so it is best to avoid monsoon season, and stay with your guide at all times. A tripod, plenty of battery power (backups!), and a wide zoom are a must here. Speaking of backup batteries, it is a good thing I followed my own advice, because just before I took this shot, my battery died. The 20D was still new to me then, and I wanted to see how many shots I could get from one battery. I still remember the look on the guys face next to me when I said to myself “uh oh, dead battery!” Canon 20D, 17-40 f/4L, tripod

  • Start: Cathedral Lakes Trailhead, on the Tioga Road .The trail climbs steadily 1,000 ft to Upper Cathedral Lake. / It is beautiful when the snow is still there. However it is best to have your GPS with you, hiking poles and alot of patience. Yosemite

  • Let there be light, and there was light. And it was good …... This image was taken in Upper Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. This sandstone cavern is located on the Navajo Indian Reservation and is only accessible via four-wheel drive truck and with a Navajo guide. There are a few holes in the ceiling, which let in this perfect beam of light. This place will be visited again, there also is a Lower Antelope Canyon which I didn’t get to see – YET …... • Antelope-Corkscrew Canyon, shows a powerful ray of light coming through the cavern top and illuminating the cave walls in brilliant orange-reddish colors. Antelope Canyon is so unique, it has also become known as The Corkscrew, Corkscrew Canyon, Upper Antelope, Wind Cave, or The Crack. Upper Corkscrew Canyon is located around the Navajo Reservations and usually requires a jeep to get you there. This location is just outside Page, Arizona. Photograph information: / I used a Canon Elan with a 20mm lens and negative film. / This image was taken inside the cave with a 45 second time exposure to account for reciprocity failure.

  • Taken at Letchworth State Park in Mount Morris, NY on 10/08/2008. The falls is on the Genesee river. A Rebel XTi with a Sigma 17-70mm lens and a circular polarizer. / /

  • Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. • Old Mans Cave Upper Falls (TOP of FALLS) / The most popular of all the Hocking areas is Old Man’s Cave, located on S.R. 664. Here at Upper Falls, the Grandma Gatewood Trail begins its six-mile course connecting three of the park’s areas: Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls to Ash Cave. • Shot in the Hutt River near Moonshine Bridge, Upper Hutt, New Zealand. We have had some great last light in the valley, the change starts about 4.30pm and its gone in less than half an hour, stunning soft pinks and peaches. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, Cokin ND8 grad, tripod and sand bag. check out the image below, this is about 10 mins latter, the sky is loosing its pink giving way to lovely wedgewood blues, this is a closer angle to the log in the foreground which reveals a trapped plastic wrap. / Its a wrap!

  • Shot in the Hutt River near Moonshine Bridge, Upper Hutt, New Zealand, view towards Moonshine Bridge. I’ve been working with this trapped timber for a few weeks now and still have not got the shot that I want, this is becoming a challenge, what I want is to get this image at sunrise, the sun comes up at the end of the tree line, it could be magical, I will keep at it. All made possible by my fishing waders and sandbags, what you cant tell, coz my 17mm lens is so wide angle that the lens is about 30cm from that branch, I’m knee deep in the water and the water drops off to about 4 feet to the right of the branch, an extreme approach but thats the difference, no one else can get this shot, no one else is daft enough. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, Cokin ND8 grad, tripod and sand bag.

  • No Name Lake, Payette National Forest – Idaho. / Crop. White Balance. Tone Curve. Saturation. / 5 minute exposure. All images© Copyright by Benjamin Charles Mitchell / They may not be used in any way without written consent.

  • This is at the top of the drop as the thunderous waters of the Yellowstone River cascade over the edge from the Upper Falls into the chasm below- a small glacier is seen hanging on the other side. / Best viewed large

  • taken at Parkbeg Saskatchewan / Olympus E510 40/150 lens / photomatix and lightroom processing

  • just on a whim, I got up at 5am and shot down the river, this spot is 5mins from home, my wife said the weather was going to be crap, not worth going out, you’re wasting your time, Brilliant! when people tell you its gonna be bad the chances are that its gonna be SENSATIONAL!!! you be the judge, I’m very happy with this image. Shot in the Hutt River near Silverstream, view towards upper Hutt and Moonshine Bridge. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, Cokin ND4 grad, tripod and sand bags. Active D-Lighting on high, ISO 100

  • Shot in the Hutt River near Silverstream, view towards upper Hutt and Moonshine Bridge. The start of a limited edition canvas series for the Hutt River, New Zealand Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, Cokin ND4 grad, tripod and sand bags. Active D-Lighting on high, ISO 100 Check out how fast the light went off the boil, this one is mins after the one below which has wild colours, i think I like the more subdued and rock detail better.
