  • Imagine a smoke filled room…. a lonely hearts club. A piano plays a sultry melody with a lady singing the blues. Another abstract so take it for what it is.

  • This photo of an isolated figure on the street was taken from the rooftop of my apartment building 35 floors up. Click once on image to enlarge. / /

  • Decided to get my fat arse away from my computer for awhile. So I stepped outside to look at our beautiful roses. My wife takes care of them and does such a good job with them. This one really caught my eye. Out of 26 rose bushes I’ve never seen one bloom quite like this. Thank you for checking out my new work.

  • “la Pedrera”, Barcelona, Spain TOP 10 in challenge “Sculptural Architecture” in group Architectural Photography GAUDI Art /

  • Just trying something a little different.

  • (ahem) Neither the title nor the subject is meant to imply anything untoward. It so happens that this reminds me both of an American Indian blanket, to some degree, and also of the “drunken” quilt patterns I have seen; which are called that as they don’t hold a firm line to the pattern, much the way a drunk person trying to walk a straight line doesn’t. Got it? Good.

  • A variation of , as it turns out, a variation. In this one, Tristan is, apparently, dreaming a sad dream, indeed. I think it’ might be of one of those lost summer loves, but, if you want to know, really, you shall have to ask Tristan.

  • I had a short and mostly unusable set of shots I took of average subjects being enlarged to the point of absurdity, then cropped into unrecognizable 4-square chunks. I planned to use them as the art for a new storyline and music for Alice In Wonderland. I’ve never read the real story nor seen any production of it so this seemed like a fun ‘jump point’ for something unique and multimedia. I got to the 4th shot and scrapped it, leaving only some unrecognizable macros and this shot. The distortion rings are natural and I believe they were tiny ridges in the petals with an overall architecture that gave the illusion of terraced farming or someone’s memories of the 1960’s – not mine, of course. :-D So here’s a bit dragged from the archives of my mind and laid out before you like some deep sea worm that expanded into horrific proportions from lack of pressure when dredged up to the surface. Cool, huh? Someone recently said I wasn’t verbose. To that person: neener, neener! The absolutely charming group Miniatures and Mammoths featured this piece with the heartfelt thanks!

  • These cups and spoons were stacked to the ceiling! Found in the Pennsylvania Conference Center, these got quite a bit of attention as they hung under one of the stairways of the halls. The sign said “do not touch”..... hmmmm…... wonder why that is?! As is straight from the camera taken during my trip for a conference down in Philly, March 2009.

  • Just a couple of hours before flying out of Whitehorse in Canada’s Yukon six months ago, I was walking around when I spotted this huge mural painted on the side of a building. This image is not the tightest of the six frames I shot very quickly, but I must point out that the shadow of the “No Parking” sign is not part of the mural – it is a real shadow in the afternoon sun. The window is real too – as are the onaments on the ledge, as well as the butterflies and other ornaments hanging just inside. If you give this a casual glance, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s an oil painting on a small canvas. It’s only when you start running your eye over the other details that you realise how clever the artist’s work is and how beautifully he or she has incorporated the many irregular surfaces on the building’s façade into the integrity of the work.. It’s an intriguing piece of giant art, but I have no idea who actually painted it. I could not find a plaque with the artist’s name, but I have to conclude that the project was either organised or endorsed by the authorities of Whitehorse. To see different aspects of the mural on this wall, simply check out my blogpost called U Is For Unusual I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. This was shot on 2 September 2008, with a Pentax K100D using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/500 sec, ISO 200 and focal length of 125mm. Featured in OUT OF THE PAST, June 2009. Featured in ALL STREET PORTRAITURE, June 2009.

  • This beautiful historic barn is located along State Route 87 in Loyalsock Township, just north of Montoursville, Pennsylvania. The entire farm is uniquely appealing for its unusual structures and the immaculate grooming of the entire property. This photo was taken on June 5th, 2009. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D camera using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L lens zoomed to 180mm. The shutter speed was 1/60th sec. at f/19. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. • An unusual flower Camera used: / NIKON COOLPIX S500

  • This visit to the Crawley Edge Boatshed was a total opposite to my last visit a few days earlier, When the waterline was above the jetty leading to the boatshed due to a storm surge which resulted in a unusually high tide, Which is the opposite to the unusually low tides we have had over the last few days. I decided to walk into the river to get a unusual perspective of the boatshed since I thought the water wasn’t to deep, But in the end, I found myself knee deep in the water shooting the boatshed, And once again, Going home soaking wet. LOL The boatshed was built in the 1930’s and was restored by it’s current owner in the early 2000’s after being in a dilapidated and run down state for many years. EOS 500D. Featured in: Panoramas, Western Australia.
