Yes, I have been to the zoo. I am a supporter of zoos. The reaction of the animals to zoo life runs the gamet, from those that are happier than in the wild, to those that are miserable. And to the latter my heart goes out. But zoos play a vital role in bringing public awareness up about the animals. / John Doe is more likely to vote against the bill opening up the new wilderness to exploitation if he has seen a Grizzly and a Puma first hand, than if he has only seen pictures on TV or in a book. The animals don’t know it, but they are helping to save our planet. Imagine no TV. Cut the cord from your cable television service, and you’ll be saving a lot more than just money. You’ll be saving a lot of time as well. Time spent watching advertisements can be replaced by time with your family. Time spent watching sitcoms can be replaced by time exploring comedic and tragic situations in your community. Time watching reality shows can be replaced by time in reality. Television encourages you to be passive, accepting the creative vision made by others. Time without TV is time in which you can learn to express your own creative vision. Don’t let your TV set be your only eye on the world. Television offers a corporate vision that supports the corruption of American democracy. Look outside your door, instead of at that flickering screen, and you’ll find people and places that corporations cannot put up for sale. Imagine no TV—In these times, it’s a revolutionary act.
