In today’s post card I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the relationship between RedBubble and the members of the site. The way I view the relationship is that RedBubble’s here to act as a catalyst and facilitator. RedBubble is not about ‘RedBubble’ – it’s about all the people that are part of the site. RedBubble shouldn’t become the centre of attention. RedBubble’s job is to take care of all the background stuff. The website. Production and logistics. Payment. Solving problems. Listening. RedBubble’s job is to lower barriers – to make things easier. But I don’t want RedBubble to do everything. Two things we always want to leave up to you: being creative and sharing your creativity. For example, if you’re interested in selling your work I’m a firm beliver that the the very best person to share / market your work is you! Why? Because we’re all relational creatures – we value a sense of connectedness. MWM: This long letter to humanity appeared with no apparent return address. It is being posted here and there. This is another Internet piece for which I cannot assess the validity. All I CAN say is that it sounds like a good idea, is coherent, and is written skillfully at a level of intelligence and maturity with I would associate with a serious, non-technical, matter-of-fact level of discourse. It is not ethnically loaded and the writer has a very good understanding of language and human psychology, though there are a few moments where the grammar is different than we are accustomed to and there are a couple of language errors. Most importantly, it makes no reference to impossible constructs, faux-tech, nor any type of religious or New Age buzzwords. This is as clean a straight-shooting letter, as you will find. Accordingly I am sending it to you to “vet” it and see what our Phoenix Five brain trust surmises about it. I am also sending it to you because it might be real. The main assertion in the letter is that human civilization is now in an uncontrollable free-fall implosion which cannot be “fixed” from within existing social systems. The implosion is causing, will cause a major rupture in all human orders. There is a dark road down toward the use of technology to rapidly enslave human populations in a badly degraded and unhealthy environment. Those who are defining this path, many of them unintentionally, have the greater advantage of power over resources and may gain the upper hand during the coming rupture. Biasing information is a millenary strategy for human beings. Inducting thoughts, emotions or organisms that do not belong to you via ad hoc technologies is an even older a strategy. Wonderful opportunities of progress stand close to big subdual and destruction threats. These dangers and opportunities exist now. However, you can only perceive what is being shown to you. The end of natural resources is programmed whereas no long-term collective project has been launched. Ecosystem exhaustion mechanisms have exceeded irreversible limits. Being aware of the priceless value of free will, we are inviting you to an alternative. What can we offer ? What would be the consequences of a positive decision ? For us, the immediate consequence of a collective favourable decision would be the materialisation of many ships, in your sky and on Earth. This action will affect your future in an irreversible and historical way at the scale of milleniums, otherwise, it will postpone a new opportunity to choose to several years later, at least one generation, if it can survive. Remaining indifferent means giving up one´s free will. It is all about your future. It is all about your evolution. In September I am about to embark on a degree in Photography and I was wondering if any fellow redbubblers have been to college/university and whether you felt it helped or hindered your development as a photographer/artist. I would love to hear what you thought about it – please don’t worry about what you say, even if it is negative – I want to hear all experiences – I am a big girl and will ultimately make up my own mind. I have been to university, so i know what to expect academically but I have never done anything like this in which I am the one being artistic or creative. Life is hard. Let’s face it, even sucking in your next breath takes effort. You may do it subconciously, but it requires muscles, they do work, they soak up energy, they have to recover… And, the air you inhale is literally stolen from every other living thing that might have used it. Why? Why do it? I look at my Dad – 81, had a heart attack, several strokes, open heart surgery, massive aneurisms replaced with nylex hose, a pacemaker installed and arteries inflated with little balloons. Still he keeps dragging in one more breath. His heart still beats one more time – although I reckon that, before every beat, that heart spends a millisecond thinking “Shit, can I really be shagged doing this again?” But it does. Why? That has to be the biggest and most important question we can ask ourselves, doesn’t it? Without an answer, why bother sucking in that next lungful? Personally I do it because I’m so insanely curious. There is so much to see, so much to hear, learn, try, feel, taste, experience. I will happily steal that air, that food, that space to keep me going. I cannot imagine ever actually wanting to say “Yep, that’s it. Don’t want to go anymore. I’ll just stop now…” I never want to die. My gravestone will read “Hang on for fuck’s sake! I’m not finished yet…” Don’t get me wrong – I’m perfectly aware of the bad in this world – pollution, violence, apathy, loss, grief, heartache, loneliness (affects people the most when they live in big cities full of people – go figure). I’ve had heaps of all of ‘em. But. While I have eyes I can see the sun come up, read fabulous stories and informative articles, stare at Hubble telescope images and imagine travelling through them. While I have ears I can listen to people talking and laughing, float in music that flows me through every emotion imaginable and sigh at the throbbing sensuality of those massive diesel train engines… While I have a body I can run adrenaline through it just for the rush, push it to its limits just to feel that addictive pain and feel the sweat, the skin and the movements of women under me on steamy summer nights. My next breath brings me everything I desire. My life’s mantra is “Just one more…”

Because it has to come sooner or later. As of next term, I’m officially in year 12. How scary. I’ve spent the past hour or so reading through university booklets and brochures and scouring the web and so I also thought I’d ask you guys for advice :) What are you doing in life? Do you enjoy it? How hard exactly is it to get a really good UAI? (if you’re from Australia). Are you currently studying? If so, what? To give you an idea of what I’m interested in, the subjects I’m doing for my HSC are: 4unit English (extension 2) 3unit Mathematics (extension 1) 3unit Latin (extension 1) Art I had to drop business studies and ancient history because I had way too many units :( Of course, I’m interested in studying visual arts in university, but I’m not sure how practical that really is. I do still need to make a living… Apart from art, the two other areas I’m interested in are law and psychology, particularly clinical psychology and I’m interested in doing philosophy and languages alongside them :) but… arts/psychology = 98.5 UAI requirement / combined law = 99.55 UAI requirement Just looking at those numbers makes me sad XD.

I don’t make this statement as a philosophical point but rather that every atom of which I am made was created at the precise time the universe was created. They are essentially unchanged since then. And now they are arranged in such a way that they make up me. And you too were created at the dawn of time and the universe. Is this a bit mind-blowing?

/ A couple of months ago I was honoured to be contacted by the Griffith REVIEW which is a publication of topical essays, memoirs and reports by some of the best writers and artists Australia has to offer, which is put out by Griffith University 4 times a year in the form of a book They were enquiring whether they could use some of my art, the painting Baby Bull Production / to illustrate an essay in the upcoming edition “Essentially Creative”. I am so honored to be a part of this important group and I wanted to share this appropriate chapter from my book with everyone that is a part of THE DIVINE FEMININE Group. THE GODDESS RETURNS For over twenty-five thousand years, the Goddess and her energies ruled the world and all life on our planet was under her guidance. All of the archeological evidence of the past suggests that it was the Goddess that people first looked to for guidance and wisdom. The historical evidence suggests that during her reign, there existed a positive vision of life expressed as a living unity and the perception of a connected Universe. Life on this planet was viewed as an organic, living, and sacred whole, wherein humanity, the Earth and all life on Earth, were woven together into a single connective circle, part of the universal web…the circle of life. For the greatest part of our human history we have had a matriarchal society. Women were the bearers and nurturers of life. In the villages and towns they were the midwives, healers, shamans, soothsayers and wise women, the human embodiment of the Goddess. Men and women were both aware of a woman’s special connection to the Universal Life Force Energy. Men and women understood this Spiritual connection. The knowledge of this natural gift was passed from mother to daughter, nurtured by society, promoted and accepted by all. Women’s creative, sexual power was viewed as God’s gift to us all and the most important part of sustaining and nurturing all life in a healthy balance here on earth. In today’s world we often associate sexuality with violence or sin, whereas our ancestors and our earlier societies associated sexuality with the sacred and Spiritual. The illustrations that our earliest ancestors left for us scribbled on dark cave walls and illuminated temples were of the Goddess. The oldest man-made artifacts that have been discovered by archeologists, buried under thousands of years of dirt and rock, were of tiny rounded clay figurines of the Goddess. Both sculptures and early paintings present the divine female in her full creative, pregnant, and powerful glory. / / Roughly four thousand years ago, the role of the male God or Gods started to take a bigger role in developed societies. Man had now evolved to a point where he began to develop new ways to be the master of his world and not merely a participant in the natural process as before. At this point in human history, the Great Goddess became associated with nature, a chaotic force needing to be mastered. The new male Gods took to the roles of conquering or ordering this chaotic Nature into structured laws. The male energies began to take dominance over the female energies. The Spiritual feminine world and the male physical worlds started to separate. The mind was separated from matter, the soul from body, thinking from feeling, intellect from intuition, and reason from instinct. The feminine principles, which had manifested themselves in our mythology as ‘the Goddess’ with her benevolent values of BEING; love, sex, creativity, spontaneity, feeling, instinct and intuition—were lost as valid expressions of the sanctity and unity of life. They were not forgotten, perhaps, but they were indeed demeaned, discarded by many, and pushed out of the mainstream. The natural circle of life was now broken and the world began tipping out of balance. / / This new man-made dualism created competition instead of cooperation, specialization instead of wholeness, and a whole host of separations that were created from what was once a natural unity. This was the beginning of the new patriarchal society and the new rule of the male Energy here on Earth. Then, less than two thousand years ago, man took the next evolutionary step to dominance by creating a religion that for the first time was an all-male religion with a singular male God and his sexless Son/God on earth. The role of the woman in this new religion was at best to be subservient and was extremely diminished in all respects by the creators of this new religion. Sex and Spirit were for the first time in the world’s history torn apart. The only way, we were now told, to insure our spiritual enlightenment was to strip ourselves of our base, human, bodily vices. Sexual feelings and sexual passion were now things to battle against for the sake of our Soul. Women were made to be ashamed of their sex and over time forgot about their natural creative Spiritual powers and how to purposefully use them to powerfully connect at the highest human levels to The Universal Life Force Energy. Love of self was now replaced with fear of self. When Spirit gave me this information, I was told that there was an essential reason why an equal abundance of Goddess Energy had been missing from the world for the last two thousand years. This was not a Spiritual injustice, and at the beginning of the change, no person or group was at fault. This shift in the balance of Masculine and feminine Energy was part of a great Universal plan. Again, nothing happens by chance. Spirit created this Male/Female imbalance for a reason. This was a temporary and planned diversion. The near absence of the passive feminine Goddess Energy on this planet was necessary to provide a large clear space for the male God Energy to be globally released unchecked and unbalanced for the most part by the Goddess. In the process, the excess male Energy would quickly achieve some fascinating and inspiring technological advancements. In the beginning, the Female/Goddess Energy had been needed in over abundance to cultivate and populate a healthy world. Now this would be the male’s time to accomplish an evolutionary planetary jump using the unbridled aggressive male energies to quickly advance our culture and our world to the point that we are at right now. It has always been prophesized that when the time was right, the Male Energy would recombine once again with the Female Energy to create an even stronger whole than before. I have been told that the time for this Spiritual Re-Union is NOW. Letting the male Energy rule by itself came at a price. The male energies can be and have been destructive, laying waste to nature, obliterating many ideas, ideals and any physical structures standing in its path, creating imbalance everywhere and with everything. Spirit has told me that this is the time for the balance between the God and the Goddess, male and female, to come together again into the Sacred Whole. It is time for everything to come into balance and it starts by women everywhere waking up, releasing, listening, feeling, and then reclaiming their power… to Re-Create the balance within them, and in turn, balance and heal the world. Now the powerful abundance of the Feminine Life Force Energy that is focused on the earth is helping to bring about the balanced change in everyone and everything. It is creating the space and the energetic environment necessary for the rise again of the Divine Feminine, the Goddess, and for her to take man’s hand and work together in harmony once again as equals. Modern man’s awareness of this natural need for balance began over sixty years ago, when the science of Physics discovered that the whole of life could not be split into separate specialized pieces as theorized years before and that everything in our Universe is dynamically alive and inter-connected. The essential truth of Feminine (negative) Energy and it’s relationship with Masculine (positive) Energy was found alive and well in the Quantum world. Science, the modern man-made alternative to Spirituality, while searching for the testable answers to why and how we exist, came full circle and proved what our ancestors intuitively knew since the beginning of time. Modern physics proved an integral part of metaphysics and validated thousands of years of Spiritual teachings and philosophies that we are all ONE – and that both aspects of Energy are necessary for the growth and enduring strength of the Whole. Spirit assured me that this was now the time for the Goddess/Female Energy to take its rightful place on the throne next to the God/Male Energy. The return of the benevolent Feminine aspect of the Universal Energy will Re-Create the much-needed balance of Energy once again here on earth. At this time Spirit is giving you every opportunity to awaken your inner Goddess and reclaim your sacred Gifts, to help Re-Create a healthier and happier world for you and for everybody. It is the time for you to focus on your SELF, your knowing, your Soul, your BEING. It is time to stop living a fearful existence as a powerless HUMAN being and start living a happy, joyful, healthy life as a loving and powerful human BEING. Lose all fear and judgments of others – accept the truths and embrace your light. It was time for me to do the same. And time now for me to purposefully explore more of Spirit’s exciting information and fascinating imagery. You know, we are all very lucky to have so many places in the virtual universe to show off our work. Sold a laminated print of my Red String of Fate to a mystery buyer today :D / / This is actually the first time to sell my work as a print so it means a lot; many thanks! / / / It’s kind of funny though, because just two days ago I purchased a card of the same work. When I saw the e-mail from RedBubble I thought they were only talking about the sale I made to myself :P until I read it was a print sale ~ / / / / On other news, I now have a new laptop for school which is only half a month away. I got my windows upgrade kit yesterday; upgrading the new laptop now (working on my old machine in the meantime) and hopefully won’t run into any bugs during the semestre. I’ve also been doing some research for my thesis, which I plan to be origami related; and learned it can be very practical. Did you know origami has saved lives? It has provided inspiration of the construction of air bags in cars, as well as the heart stent. / / / Stainless steel model of the origami heart stent. / / It has also been applied to the construction of satellites that unfold in space as well as a very large telescope that folds up so that it can be carried into a space shuttle, and unfolded in outer space! I’m getting a new cellphone with an 8 megapixel camera and video soon, I can’t wait, I want to start taking ‘spontaneous pictures’ of the things I see around me. Oh I know it’s not like having a really high-tech camera or anything, but it’s something I can carry around me when I go on my daily walks, there have been so many snippets of Life and emotion I’ve seen on my short, daily travels, that I’d have loved to capture on film. / / I started disciplining and committing myself to daily walks about three months ago, it was a way of motivating me, re-energising me, getting my ass out of a bed and back into the big, wide world again, being around people, life and nature but at a safe, ‘controllable’ distance. I think about lots of things on my walk. / / Plus it helps to shift some weight off my fat, Jack Russell dog. / / So rain or shine, I make my way out of the house at 5:30 pm NZ time every day for my two hour walk, whether I feel like it or not, it has become a part of my daily ritual and routine, probably the only thing I stick to with consistency at all. / / The walks initially started out about 2km around the block, then I walked an extra block further, and another yet again, feeling like Forest Gump getting further and further away from home. / / And sometimes I see things I’d love to capture on camera that I can no longer express in words, small things that to some might seem inconsequential, but that for me, momentarily, move me to think and feel again. / / Yesterday while out walking, a bright, tiny, yellow bird flew out of a tree into the road, it hit the windscreen of an oblivious driver who was talking on his cell phone and who just carried on driving to go about his day. / / I watched the bird fall to the road thinking how weird it was that it remained unscathed and in tact. / / It tumbled and rolled over and over a few times and then lay still, a small, bright, lifeless speck on a black, tarseil landscape. / / I questioned why something so harmless, young and beautiful was taken away from us so suddenly and quickly, it makes the meaning of life itself seem so pointless and futile… / / But then I wake up to see another sunny day, baby ducklings waddling across lawns, more beautiful coloured birds flying freely in the sky, and I figure that it’s just the universal cycle of things, that one, single day, flying free to that little bird, may have felt like a lifetime to another animal or person who forever feels imprisioned and sad… / / So I guess it’s all relative in the end? / / I swear I once said I’d shoot myself and blow my brains out if I ever started to write soppy, sentimental shit about birds, flowers or sunsets. / / That shit is sooooooooooooooooooo not like me.
