  • Sacred Universe The ancient motifs of basic circle and spiral are widely recognized as metaphors for fertility, continuity, and the Goddess. Simplicity is deceiving, because the spiraling circle is also the template of physical reality. The design and proportion of sunflower heads, pine cones and snail shells are only a few examples. DNA, cell division, whirlpools, hurricanes, our galaxy, the nature of time itself are all based upon the same blueprint; wholeness and all life being interconnected. Its not surprising many earth centered and eastern cultures emphasize circle and spiral in religious and spiritual philosophy, but abstract thought such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, physics, the Golden Ratio, and Phi are all based upon it. Life on the physical, mental and spiritual plane is the spiraling inward/outward journey. Star fire burns in the nucleus of every cell; we are spiritual beings who’ve forsaken our origins. We are all relations; claim the birthright and initiate mending the hoop of the world. Parent to child we form a living bridge, the umbilical cord connecting past with future. / Maybe the universe herself is in a fetal stage, drifting upon the silent current of space and time that is the womb of the great goddess. • Everything that is created and every idea evolves from somewhere, and that somewhere doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the final destination, this is just a shirt with a pattern on it, and the pattern can mean a thousand things beyond one point, and not stating something it may or may not mean doesn’t mean that ‘it doesn’t or does mean it’. / . / I was reading yet another another article on some fancy new telescope that assisted us in being able to see stars form in the galaxy around the time of the Big Bang, if there ever was a Big Bang, and I remembered how I used to love this stuff, but now I think it’s time we accepted how our view up has increased our awareness of our own vulnerability and we thought about looking down at least as much. The nearest star (apart from the sun) is about 4.2 light years away, which would take about 90,000 years to get to in Voyager 2. So we’re not getting there anytime soon. At present we appear to be destroying this planet, and aware of it, so really that’s a lot like suicide. Priorities people. The blade is made of an image of the oldest galaxy we’ve found, and I stencilled it so I could use paint drips rather than blood. I’m trying to avoid blood these days. And I’m no astronomer, if my information is incorrect please blame the internet as a whole for lying. And go and ask this man, Mr Dave Pearson who actually does know what he is talking about and to whom I dedicate this tee and my new thoughts about it.

Winner of the Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club Art Show, photography section 2009. Since exhibiting this at the art show I’ve had many people tell me they are very familiar with this corner of road and never seen anything beautiful about it before. It is very gratifying to hear that they now look at this part of the world with different eyes. This image was taken at the suggestion by an acquaintance (thank you, Keryl) when I was telling her about my water project (to photograph local bodies of water). Being that there is little about, puddles are a bit of an oddity, but this morning’s wonderfully special light helped to make this image (in my opinion) exceptional and I’m quite excited about the result. It raises thoughts in my mind about the concept of alternate or parallel universes being linked by a reflection, kept apart by a fragile, gossamer field. This image as is. There has been no alteration to colour, not even cropping or rotation adjustment. Taken in Woolpack Rd, Bacchus Marsh / 22 July 2008 / Looking towards the Avenue of Honour.

  • Ancient Sadness
    by Wendy Slee

    US$5.98–US$136.80

It seems to rise from deep within us…. / yet maybe even beyond us…. / a sadness that defies our understanding / or our very will, / a sadness that comes from a place outside of our own existence… / that engulfs us indomitably. We who walk the Earth so gently, / know that this connection, / stronger than the gravity that holds us to her, / brings with it the knowledge of her pain / and the infinite lifetimes of sorrow. / Is this the source of our unknown sadness? This ancient wellspring from within the heart of the Earth… / wells up and breaks forth, flowing through us, / the tears of eternity, the pain of the ancient ones, / a sadness that knows no bounds, / to be set free through us, through our hearts and eyes, / and opening us to receive the flow of awareness, / healing and a renewed potential for life.

  • MARION CHAMPMAN is a wonderful artist and a lover of patterns and design.. Printmaking and experimenting with all kinds of materials and colors.. she really turns my head.. Marion… truth be told.. Kauai is not a very pastel-y place.. so I took my photo and gave it a Marion Wash.. I love this shot..I do not know what this is but I spent some time with this guy..It was a very tall tree and that is how the leaves grow on it.. no branches!! Marion’s Chapman’s Pastels inspired Maddy of Smudge ARt Fame to write a most lovely lovely piece.. My gratitude for the Love here is ever growing.. Thank YOu Maddy! What beauty is this I behold ? / “A feast to ones eye”, I am told. / Leaves wrapped in soft hues. / Colors of gold, red and spiritual blues. “A tree without branches ”, she did say. / Just leaves that enfold it in every way. / Lina sad, this tree amazed me so, / I could not look at it and just let it go. It inspired me until I returned home, / In my minds eye, this is the tone. / I know Creator left this for me to do, / So I painted it gold, red and spiritual blue.

FROM WIKIPEDIA / Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of many religions, and has been practiced since antiquity. It is also practiced outside religious traditions. Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which may emphasize different goals—from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind. Giving this sense of relaxation and peace, meditation ultimately leads people to find peace within themselves. FROM BUDDHA SERIES: / MEDITATION / / BUDDHA / / / OHM / / / NIRVANA / ILLUMINATION /
