  Hi ya’ll, so my guinea pig is recovering… he’s doing much better than last week… is much more active and really observes everthing that’s happening around him… / He’s still much underweight but I’m hoping that will change soon… he’s eating well so… that’s good :) this week or next week I will call the vet again to ask whether I can come over so he can do a check-up and really see how things are going… / so, more news then of course :) still a huge THANK YOU to all that stick by my side and give their support for this little fella :)

  I wrote this back in 2004 due to the frustration of so many actors and acresses losing immense amounts of weight and amidst the climax of America’s obsession with being way too thin. Not only that, the pressures that caused bulimia and anorexia to run afoul through our communities and with our young girls, especially, trying to look like the images in the magazines and darn near killing themselves to get there. It’s amazing to me how much things have changed in 5 years AND how much things have NOT changed in that same 5 years.. Now, I do see plus size models in some retail stores and there are some thick chics on tv and in ads. It’s refreshing, though there still should be more of it. Update: 2009 I was recently watching one of the co-ed modeling shows and heard judges critiquing a MALE model about his muscles. He needed lose weight. Another female model kept being taunted about her butt, though she was winning photo shoot after photo shoot. Seriously…she could DO something about her BUTT? She was the hottest one on the show! I wanted to scream and some of the comments I read in YouTube comments were those of outrage and bewilderment. The man is BEAUTIFUL and looks stunning in photographs. It’s surreal. Now (and maybe back then, too, just not so in the forefront), MEN are being picked apart and told to get skinny. Wow. Just wow. I don’t think the madness will ever end.
