Hi. I sometimes wonder if the ease with which fractal software renders a variety of images causes artists to be too easy on themselves in evaluating their creations. I’ve rejected many of my own as just not good enough, which are freely available from my website. With an artistic standard for fractal imagery, I have certain preferences: Purity of form – fractals generated and displayed as rendered by the software’s algorithms and color palettes, without any post-work. No shallow zooms – search and discovery are the foundational aspects of working in fractals. Resonance – the fractal has a strong voice with a satisfying choice of framing, color and light. Lasting appeal – the art sustains the standard after repeated viewings. Not that you asked, by the way. I’m not exactly sure when I developed reverence and rules toward fractal art, but they aren’t just pretty. Each is a universe. archie
