Not sure what these things were for, but i can only imagine it was for access to the top of the machines that have been removed from this area since the place closed. I couldnt help but think of aircraft stairs when i saw them though, perhaps brought on by the fact the place we had stayed the night before was directly under a flight path of an airport.

another red tree… Inspired by The Red Tree by Shaun Tan “sometimes you wait / and wait / and wait / and wait / and wait / and wait / and wait / but nothing ever happens / then all your troubles come at once / wonderful things are passing you by / terrible fates are inevitable / sometimes / you just don’t know / what you are / supposed to do / or who / you are meant / to be / or where you are / and the day seems to end / the way it began” Acrylic and mixed media on canvas / November 2008
This huge tyre was dumped on the mudflat at Cungulla, QLD, by locals trying to stem the erosive forces of storm-driven waves. I like that the ridges in the tyre mirror the natural ridges in the sand. Canon EOS350D with a 17-85EFS-USM lens. Converted to greyscale in Corel PhotoPaint. FEATURED in the groups Mangroves, Marshes and Mudflats (2/09) and Flotsam and Jetsam (2/09).

The Parish Church of St James is one of six churches in The Team Parish of Louth in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It lies at the centre of the historic market town of Louth, a historic thriving market town with a Georgian heart. The parish church has the tallest spire (295 feet) of any medieval parish church in the country. It is a magnificent fifteenth century building that is featured in Sir Simon Jenkin’s book, England’s 1000 Best Churches. Thousands of visitors are drawn to visit the church every year because of its aura of spirituality and architectural beauty. They are welcomed by church guides, a shop and the possibility of refreshments served under the tower. St Stephen’s chapel is set aside for reflection and prayer with aids to contemplation and prayer available there. The parish church is also the base of a lively, outward looking congregation with choral services every week. I know somw of you guys have seen these photos before but I have re-processed them and think I have improved them alot. / HDR / photomatix 3 photos -2 from 1 raw file / Sold numerous times as a framed print from my shop in Louth Canon 40D / F16 / ISO 200
