Just a piece of graphic art i felt compelled to do one day.
Have you been naughty or nice? (thinking naughty thoughts while looking at this card is excused) Model: Helen / Photography and post production: jo o’brien
I found this photo amongst all my parents old albums and found out the little boy is actually my dad! I played around with it in photoshop and added a few bits and pieces to revamp the old shot as a new artwork. - Updated 1/02/08
A quote given to me by a friend.
The quote reads, “The artist is nothing without the gift but the gift is nothing without work”. The piece is a bit difficult to read, but it was done purposely. This quote is pretty self-explanatory. Everyone needs to utilize their raw talent and not let it go to waste. Too much talent is being withheld by people these days and they do nothing with it. Every able-bodied person needs to get out in the world and show people who they are and what they can create. All was created in PhotoShop The light bulb was added by me because of the thought process involved with creating this piece. My friend was saying how hard it was to create digital works because he has no idea how to and described creating these works as a talent or “gift”, and thus, putting the idea in my head for this design. Light bulb=idea popping into head ha! The blue added a nice touch to the design in my opinion too. Comments and critiques are much appreciated!
The quote reads, “watch your thoughts for they become words. watch your words for they become actions”. This piece deals with a quote that I believe in strongly. It deals with what an individual needs to think about before they open their mouth and make a statement. Whether it be good or bad, some sort of action will usually follow that statement. All was created in PhotoShop. Comments and critiques are appreciated! Enjoy!
By popular demand, in print form! Markers & pen in my sketchbook. I used Photoshop to balance out my typography. / Buy the t-shirt! / This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 2.5 Australia License

I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found quite confronting to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and “run away” from my emotional pain.. Now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to be a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. It gives me great comfort that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss FEATURED IN Prize Challenges GROUP / FEATURED IN Creative Inspirations / FEATURED IN YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP / FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP / FEATURED IN TYPOGRAPHY GROUP / FEATURED IN THE ART OF PAIN GROUP t-shirt available .

Needed a break from the recent web-work I’ve been conjuring up, ended up working on a typography poster based on some music I was listening to.
Just having some fun combining collage, vector and typographic elements. I know this is not my usual style, so I am interested to hear your thoughts :) I think I need to work on this style a little more yet though. If you like this piece, please check out: / / /
