Typical houses built from local slate, in the Lake District of England. I uploaded this image months ago. I always liked the shot, but it was ruined by the washed out sky (see the original image below). I thought I might try to improve the shot by adding a sky. I hope you like the effect. Famous and loved by the locals.. I always go for a visit when I am in Old San Juan , Puerto Rico . this place is famous for only men attending yu :) woooooo hoo!.. AND for the mallorcas.. and a mallorca is simply puertto rican bread grilled .. while hot , they squish it and sprinkle powdered sugar on it.. and serve with fresh butter….. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. A Puerto Rican Sunday morning institution, La Bombonera offers huge mallorcas and other baked items. It’s a well-kept secret, however is its ability to prepare excellent meals consistently. La Bombonera attracts huge crowds on weekends. Be sure to try the Puerto Rican coffee. Housed in an historical building, this operation’s colonial décor provides for great atmosphere and a chance to mix and mingle with the locals.
Arequipa, Peru ! She is one of the many old people I have photographed in Arequipa coping the hard reality of poverty and solitude, but I remember her in particular… / She was always so sweet and polite making me always feel a sense of tenderness ! . .
A stunning little porch that enchants when wandering the main street of Zia village up in the mountains of Kos Island, Greece Featured in German Artists in June 2009 … what an honour! Thank you kindly :)
Featured in The Mysterious Balkans in July 2009 … thank you so much!! :) We happened upon this exquisite church a bit by “accident” ... We’d set off by bus from Parikia, got dropped off virtually in the middle of nowhere at a turn-off in the road – we made our way up the hill, very much looking forward to seeing the butterfly valley (well, it’s moths really…) ... ... we walked and started thinking we were lost or had gone too far or something, but when we asked a local who came by on his moped, he assured us that it was just a few 100 meters more and we would see the tall trees offering their shade and providing the home for the moths we’d come to see. / chuckles / We got to the butterfly valley exactly two days too early – it wasn’t open for the season yet. / We decided that surely our long hike up the hill in the heat of the day could not have been for nothing … there were several chapels shown on the map in my cousin’s guidebook … we decided to take another road along the hill and down the other side to take in some of the scenery while we were up there and to then meet up with the main road at a point closer to town than where we’d initially been dropped off. We never got to any of those chapels we saw marked off in the guidebook, though we saw some in the distance … / We did however happen upon this beautiful church and a monastery nearby! ... Utterly exquisite! The little old man taking care of the church let us in and allowed us to look around and take pictures … The painting inside the church – breathtaking! ... The precious Paros Marble used around the windows … utterly spectacular! Canon EOS 450D with kit lens (18-55mm)

Featured in “Mood & Ambience” October 2009 / Featured in “Canon DSLR” October 2009 / Featured in “Wild Birds in Flight” October 2009 A Short-eared Owl flying low over marshland on the Nanaimo River Estuary, Vancouver Island, BC in search of prey. Although hunting occurs mostly at night, this owl is diurnal as well as nocturnal and Its daylight hunting seems to coincide with high-activity periods of voles, its preferred prey. There are a large number of Townsend’s Voles on this area of marshland. The Short-eared Owl tends to fly only a few feet above the ground until it it swoops down on to its prey feet-first. I have often seen three or four of these Owls hunting over this area at the same time. Best viewed large. Canon 20D / 1/250sec f8 ISO 400
