  • Massive roots hold this Cypress tree in place along the Blanco River in Wimberley, TX.

  • All through spring, I put off the flower shots. Now all I’ve got is this one, tired and withering. And yet I still find it beautiful. Even as the petals curl and fall, it delivers its most precious gift of all – the promise of the next generation. When spring returns it will be born again a hundred times over. And maybe, just maybe, I won’t wait so long to capture them.

  • A train trestle over the Blanco River in San Marcos, TX

  • An old farmhouse near San Marcos, TX.

  • A shot of the Dallas skyline. The incomplete building in the foreground is the Azure.

  • This shot was created with a Zippo lighter attached to an unwound wire coat hanger. I spun it around the rock while standing on a ladder.

  • Autumn along the Blanco River in Wimberley, TX.

  • Sometimes you have take a little risk to get the shot you’re after. Fortunately my camera survived, barely.

  • A peaceful spot on the Blanco River in Wimberley, TX.

  • Dusk falls over the Blanco River in Wimberley, TX. I used a flashlight to illuminate the trees and rocks.

  • Nature is well into the process of reclaiming this old house near Gonzales, TX

  • MY FIRST AND ONLY HOMEPAGE FEATURE – JANUARY 10, 2009 Sale of a card to Michael Outbridge I so LMAO when I saw this…several of these tiny little Chipping Sparrows were standing on my window sill…there is no screen on this particular window…I managed to get a pic before they flew away…this was the result…he doesn’t look too happy with me for taking his picture does he?...poor baby…I put some bird seed on the window sill and threw some out on the grass hoping they would return…I even lifted the blinds so as to get a better shot…but it began raining harder afterwards…they found the bird seed on the front porch I think…more pics of them coming up…it is an icy cold day in TX…32 degrees and about 3/4 inches of ice on the trees…brrrr…baby it’s cold outside!!! The Chipping Sparrow is one of the smallest sparrows. It is widespread, fairly tame, and common across most of its North American range. A common small sparrow of yards, gardens, and forest openings, the Chipping Sparrow is probably best known for its dry, trilling song. It commonly nests in ornamental evergreens. This one is definitely better viewed larger

  • It is a wonder that anyone joins the military these days. I was amazed when I saw this article from the AP: WASHINGTON—The Pentagon’s personnel chief said Tuesday the military has completed its best recruiting year since 1973, meeting all its goals and bringing in a better educated group of young people. The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps met goals for active duty and reserve recruiting during the budget year ended Sept. 30—the first time that has happened since the all-volunteer force was established, said Defense Department head of personnel Bill Carr.
