A turtle pops its head just above the water line in a very leafy pond.

This shot was taken on the streets of Paris (yes a lot of my images are from my trip, I just saw too many beautiful things not to share). In this shot the Cherub seems to be alone or lost, and the falling drops from the fountain above I thought were like Angel Tears, tears for the little one they couldn’t find.

©2004 Sara Montour I haven’t uploaded a lot of new photos lately. I’m super busy, but I definitely miss the RedBubble community and am hoping to be more involved. Fridays are a relatively slow day for me, so perhaps that will be my RedBubble day. I took this photo in 2004 when I lived in Ireland. We spent the day by the beach and were very ready to head back home. We finally got all the way back to the car and I saw this little toy and said “hold on! We can’t leave yet! I have an idea!” I ran back to the beach and took this shot and several others.

Taken from the beautiful inlet of Kiholo Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. The inlet was formed when a relatively recent lava flow penetrated the sea, forming a preserve where dozens of green sea turtles rest during the day.

These turtles are magnificent huge creatures that flow so perfectly in the water and come up wherever they choose for air and have no fear of gently pushing you out of their way. I love the ramona fish that are their constant companions too.

Some have a rest on the ocean floor, some simply just plot along like this one here. Photographed in Xcaret, Playa del Carmen, Mexico with Canon XT, f/7.1, 1/400 sec, ISO-400, focal lenght 300mm. In Mexico, since 1990, marine turtles are protected by the Federal Law. Xcaret protects the two species of turtles that nest in Quintana Roo’s beaches. They are the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the Loggerhead Turtle ( Caretta caretta) which you can see in this photo. / Every year Xcaret liberates about 300,000 young turtles. They have a better chance of survival because at the time of liberation they are already about 3 months old.

It’s so special to go in the evening when the sun is setting and the tide is coming in….beautiful. / Many people go there to meditate, pray and just breathe in all of the beauty and quiet.
