BEST VIEWED LARGER Berrys Bay is located on the Northern shore of Sydney Harbour . The harbour has many bays and tributaries. Berrys Bay /Balls Head Reserve can be reached by train from the city, you alight at Waverton Railway Station. The former BP Berry’s Bay bulk fuel storage and distribution terminal is located on the cliffs and foreshore area of Balls Head/Waverton Peninsula approximately 1.6 km northwest of the Sydney CBD. The site was operated by BP Australia as a fuel storage and distribution facility from the early 1920s. BP’s operations ceased in 1993 and the tanks were demolished in the mid 1990s. Premier Bob Carr announced in 1997 that this site, together with the Coal Loader and Caltex Sites on the other side of the peninsula would be preserved as Public Open Space It now has been returned to the public, as part of Sydney Harbour National Park, as you can see it is a magical site with wonderful panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge , Sydney Opera House (you can see under the bridge) the Sydney Skyline. Thank god governments make some good decisions returning open spaces to the people not the Developers. And yes England did send convicts to Australia for punishment Equipment used : Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm lens, no filters and processed using Photomatix My continuing journey into HDR continues ! Funny how something so ordinary, can be so interesting. Captured on my way out of the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, in Colonial Williamsburg. One of the oldest Episcopal churches in the United States, Bruton has been serving members since 1715. Famous past worshipers include presidents Washington, Tyler, Monroe and Jefferson. How would time appear if we really could see it….. / How would it fly? / Would it dance and twist and turn and taunt us? / Would it look back over its shoulder and laugh in our silly three dimensional faces as we screamed for it to stop? / Or would Time just point one way, while it disappeared in another, / Whispering “I’ll be back next time around?” / Would its blatant disregard or outrageous potential, be even noticed by our linear minds, / As it went on its way, / Radiating outwards / In every direction from / This moment, / Infinitely…...
...and THIS is why i don’t get anything finished!!!! i’m in the middle of grouting/sealing the tiles in the bathroom.. and put some rubbish out in the bin… happened to walk past my 6’ ginormous potted tomato plant growing like something out of Day of the Triffids…and spied this little guy feasting on a tiny little new tomato (no bigger than a pea)!!!! ....and ‘faint’ and ‘gasp’ ... i manually focused!!!! Camera Specs / Nikon D70 (Duds) / Focal Length 125.0mm / Exposure 1/200 / Aperture f/5.6 AF Zoom-Nikkor Lens / ED 28-200mm / f/3.5-5.6G IF / plus x3 Close Up filters / a chair to stand on in the driveway / ...and patience ++ in the hot sun, waiting for the proverbial worm to turn (into the tomato) – despite prompting with the tip of my nail! / My CRITTERS Calendar – now 2010! /
“I wouldn’t recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they’ve always worked for me.” Hunter S. Thompson (American Journalist and Author, 1937-2005)
sleep eluded him for days / instead a frail image outlined his nights “who are you?” he asked “i can’t turn off my thoughts…” she answered and that’s how it began… . o1.27.2oo9 / acrylic on canvas / 24” square .
A pic I took near the St-Laurence river(summer 08) Quebec,Canada. /
For this one I set up the tripod in the water and took a bulb exposure of around 1.5 minutes followed immediately by another at 0.5 sec with a wide aperture, then combined the two exposures in photoshop. / Taken on a Pentax K20D
The Morrigan, ancient goddess of the land, of fertility and death, became associated in more modern times with war. In triple aspect she was accompanied by Nemain (Frenzy), Macha or Badbh (Battle Crow). In her war aspect she appeared over the battlefield, inciting the warriors to become crazy with war-lust, and thus, causing their own demise. The Morrigan was not death herself, she was the harbinger of death, and so the Ban-Shee or the Washer at the Ford, became associated with her. She is the Kali of the Irish pantheon, the Dark Mother to whom we must respect deeply. Some of her symbols are the hooded crow, hawthorne, blackthorne, apple, spirals, night, twilight, autumn, earth, dark places, and the colors: red, black, and white. The Morrigan, represents the dark aspect that we all experience and possess. Everything emerges from the dark, the child from the womb, the day from night, and The Morrigan’s power exists within this place of potentiality. We also end the cycle by returning to the dark, day gives way to night, our bodies return to the earth, and so The Morrigan blesses us by releasing us from her realm and calls us back when it is time. The dark aspect is not something to be feared, for to fear the dark, is to be afraid of our own nature. It is to be understood as part of a natural cycle of rise and fall, expanding and contracting, reaching out and turning inward, etc. The Morrigan offers us a way to understand and navigate the dark paths throughout our life, if only we overcome our fears and reach out to accept the “fruit” of knowledge she offers us.
