The euphonium player in a Polka Band in Elberta, AL.
This tuba-tootin‘ shot was photographed during the Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club’s invitation visit to one of the Port Macquarie Hastings Municipal Band practice nights. We were asked to make some publicity photographs for the band and had a great time with all the bright shiny things and the very co-operative musicians. The only things special about the shot were that I used manual settings and had my Vivitar DF200 slave flash unit mounted on a bracket on the left side of my camera with the head angled slightly away from the subject. This was set off by my pop-up flash being set to its lowest power and fitted with a diffuser. Fuji S9600: RAW, Macro, Manual settings of f/5 @ 1/60sec, Auto focus, ISO80, Hand held. / S7RAW & Photoshop CS. Visit the Music collection in my BubbleSite Gallery for more musical delights. Enjoy! Taken in Nottingham Prior to Christmas- the salvation army brass band certainly adds a certain something to Christmas shopping (I know its a bit late, but the image it self isn’t that Christmassy). Carols by a brass band are great- or is that just me? / I just loved the bright sprakle in this large instrument. In 1885, Thomas Edison bought property in Fort Myers, Florida, and built what was later called Seminole Lodge as a winter retreat. Edison and his wife Mina spent many winters in Fort Myers where they recreated and Edison tried to find a domestic source of natural rubber. Henry Ford, the automobile magnate, later lived a few hundred feet away from Edison at his winter retreat in Fort Myers, Florida. Edison even contributed technology to the automobile. They were friends until Edison’s death. Tune in Carlos Santana
