This is one of the flowers from my show and poems for her. A little story about school and one of the adventures of a child’s first instrument. / We had to play in the school band everyone had to. / So this was the day we were all suppose to pick out our first instrument. I didn’t want to be the last to pick an instrument. / But by the time my name came up the best ones where all gone! / I wanted to play the trumpet like Louis Armstrong! / And practiced with my voice real deep like Louie always did. / I had all types of special ways I was gonna hold it. / With a napkin like Louie did while acting hip and cool. / And then I stand there very cool as if I was on stage. / I’d take a bow to the applause and wave my napkin at them! / I’d roll my eyes like Louie did and laugh out “here’s to you”! / I had it all planned out in my head as each one pick his favorite. / And as Susan picked the violin and Barry wanted drums. / Then Karen had a heart attack if someone wanted to play flute. / And big Bob was telling me that he was gonna play the sax. / And by the time they got to me my instrument was gone! / The only thing that they had left was a six foot tall base! / I looked at it, it looked at me it was the taller of us two! / My teacher said to me Davie boy this will remain in school! / I could Not believe my luck, you know what this good fortune means? / That lovely base with the heavy case meant I didn’t have to take it home! / Oh God I couldn’t believe my luck I didn’t have to practice!

Photograph taken today of Lonicera 09.03.09 (Honeysuckle). the first flower of the season! In Turkey Honeysuckle is known as Hanimeli …this translates as belonging to the woman….the woman’s hands … Lonicera sempervirens / From Wikipedia the free encyclopedia Lonicera sempervirens Lonicera sempervirens (Trumpet Honeysuckle) is a species of honeysuckle native to the eastern United States. It is an evergreen twining shrubby vine growing to several meters high through shrubs and young trees. The leaves are produced in opposite pairs, oval, up to 5 cm long and 4 cm broad; the leaves immediately below the flowers are perfoliate, joined at the base in a complete ring round the shoot. The flowers are produced in clusters of several groups of three together, tubular, 5 cm long, with five small lobes opening at the tip to expose the stamens and stigma; they are bright red to pinkish-red, and pollinated by Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and insects. Cultivation and uses / It is commonly grown as an ornamental plant in gardens, for its attractive flowers, and also as one of the best plants to attract hummingbirds. Several cultivars have been selected for variation in flower color, including ‘Magnifica’ (flowers red outside, yellow inside), ‘Sulphurea’ (yellow flowers), and ‘Superba’ (bright scarlet flowers). ! The Trumpeter Swan, Cygnus buccinator, is the largest native North American bird, if measured in terms of weight and length, and is (on average) the largest living waterfowl species on earth. These birds have white plumage with a long neck, a black bill subtly marked with salmon-pink along the mouthline, and short black legs. The cygnets (juveniles) are grey in appearance, becoming white after the first year. Their breeding habitat is large shallow ponds and wide slow rivers in northwestern and central North America, with the largest numbers of breeding pairs found in Alaska. Natural populations of these swans migrate to and from the Pacific coast and portions of the United States, flying in V-shaped flocks. Released populations are mostly non-migratory.
