Ophelia received an invitation from the riverside frangipanis to join them in a party. Upon reaching, she was surprised to find out that the frangipanis had thrown a party just for her, to celebrate these new friendship ties. They never had an owl as a friend and they were just as delighted as Ophelia to have found this new companionship. What hospitable flowers! Ophelia had never felt so loved before. “I certainly hope I get invited again!” Ophelia secretly wished ;D / / / You can view and buy my other “Frangipani Party” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /
Background with sun rising and clouds. This is the morning view from my job. I feel lucky.

Here on a rural road on the southern slopes of Haleakala at an elevation of about 4000 feet above sea level if you look ahead through the trees the island of Kanaloa, (Kaho’olawe Island) and the Pacific Ocean are barely visible through the foliage. I find the optical illusion fascinating when we are at certain levels on the mountain how the ocean appears to be above us on the horizon. I love the older plantation style cottages. A new addition to the Tropical and Food Collections, this painting is a tribute to the juiciness of the fruit…unlike my previous renditions of the Papaya, this is painted with much fewer details and has a relaxed feel to it, which is more in tune with the tropics...it is also part of the Sepia and Gold colour collection See the entire Tropical Collection..HERE Watercolour with Pen and Ink on DrawMaster Paper “They grew like giants in our backyard / in Cuba, thin, ravenously thirsty plants / that bore fruit every spring, first as small / as pears, then the fruit swelled to the size / of footballs, their communal weight / a clumped burden on the whole plant— / only my father knew for sure when to cut / them down, bring them inside the house, / in the kitchen he sliced them, these toothy / smiles, teeth like black goblets, a volcano’s / ashy tear on leaves, sweet, delicious, these / fruta bombas, as my father called them. / For years while we lived in Los Angeles, / he couldn’t grow them in such a dry climate, / but when he moved to Hialeah, Florida, / he harvested them once again, brought / them upstairs under his arms, a smile”..excerpt..V. Aloha ‘oe / Aloalo Aheahe / Exotic Tropical Hibiscus soft billowing breeze / Ha’iku Maui Hawai’i “On a road outreaching the white clouds, / By a spring outrunning the bluest river, / Petals come drifting on the wind / And the brook is sweet with them all the way. / My quiet gate is a mountain-trail, / And the willow-trees about my cottage / Sift on my sleeve, through the shadowy noon, / Distillations of the sun.” poetry by Liu Shen-hsu Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / My images do not belong to the public domain.
