Perth, Western Australia. 2 young busker boys play their horns on the city street for donations while an elderly gentleman stops to listen and dance, cane in hand. It was such a sweet moment that it made me feel a longing to be that age one day and still have that youthfulness of spirit that this gentleman did, as opposed to the dread and fear I so often feel at the thought of growing old. I’d like to hope that Pablo Picasso was right when he said, “It takes a long time to grow young”- that as we grow older we put away the worries over minutia and irrelevant matters that seem to block us in our younger days and focus on the simple joys in life as if we were once again children. George Bernard Shaw may have put it best when he said, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing”.
