  • Two Brighton Deck chairs sit with great vantage spot of a incoming storm front. I love the moody feel to this shot. I must thank Matthew Bonnington for his help in bringing the most out of this shot, his help with some new processing techniques really add impact to this shot.

  • “The day comes to an end / I feel my life all spent / For noone is left concern / walking the plank, / it’s a point of no return. The end of a life. / Youth suicide happens everyday. / Face it. / It is not a solution. / - – - / Won The Sunday Times – ESCAPE Travel Picture Competition (Wed, 5th June 2008). Got a 50×70cm Canvas Print worth $500AUD. Yippee! MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

  • Originally a photo from my recent trip overseas but this has gone further then my usual photography and is more of an artwork. I really like what I’ve achieved and its thanks to the Redbubble community encouraging me to try new styles and be adventurous. So thank you, and please let me know if this is a style worth progressing. All money raised in the sale of my art until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. • And as the sun shall set, in the dark of the night. / Just like the soul, with angst and fright / But once again you showed me light, / hearing your prayers as they are sent into heavens flight. Religion gives a person faith. Faith keeps a person alive. Keeping alive is survival. and survival is salvation. - – - / Rain rain go away come again another day. It was a perfect setting for a mood piece. It just so happened that guy sat over the edge there. What luck. Shot at The Gap, Albany. Western Australia. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

  • This composite was made specialy for a the “chaos” challenge last year.I just let myself go and tried something different from what I use to do.I had a old picture from my trip in France when I went skiing in the Alps. The black stain at the left is,in fact,a restaurant at the “Trois Vallées” resort and you also can see the skier’s traces on the snow…. :)) I did a double layer with a shot of the moon taken with my Panasonic FZ-20…some coloring “et voilà”.....just for fun….

  • Lianne / wrote an amazing poem about the desert Desert Wanderings Are the rare oases enough to / sustain the desert nomad? / And where is the desert boundary – / would the journeyman perceive / its end, or like me, see Canaan / and think it only temporary respite – / can he see beauty where I see none, / sculpture where I see sand – / has he more praise for palm trees / than I for all of Canaan’s promise? Deserts are but dry expanses of the mind / the hypochondria boredom breeds, / unirrigated months, parched and barren / where there is naught to slake one’s thirst / and coolness only stones beneath one’s tongue, / monotonous thoughtscapes, uninspired / wishing for rivers, never neared mirages / and longings so undefined / that even prayer is sterile. What happens to dreams that die? / Are they reborn in other minds / nourished in more fertile ground – / do the sands that cover them / windshift / reviving them again, or are they / preserved, like dried straw flowers, / still rich in color / but sapless, too fragile now to grow?

  • 3rd Annual WinterWolf Studios traditional art competition. This piece came in third place! Hoorah! Referenced off of one of their photos. Can check their stuff out here – http://girltripped.deviantart.com/

  • I wish I could come up with a better name for her… scratch that, I wish I could come up with ANY name for her actually. Oh well… maybe it’s better that way. Anyway, it was more so tedious than time-consuming but I’m satisfied with the result. I’ll probably experiment with different color schemes at a later point. It really looks like it has alot of potential in that department. Comments would be appreciated! Toodloo

  • twas just another trip to planet NB32, / hopin’ to see slimy loha moo, / she’s lives beneath these smokey mists / a pretty creature she is with fists, / covered with scales and golden threads / wrapped all over her body and two heads… / well, she’s probably taking a nap, / on her ethereal mother’s lap… so i guess for now, / she can wait for my praise and wow, / while i’ll go about to enjoy NB32’s view, / from sundown till the new day breaks anew…. this picture shows the different stages / in making this piece from the / combination of my photographs / of saudi arabia’s mountain side, / to the processes employed / such as: / dodges and burns, / transparencies and filters / to fuse all these pix together, / the water or misty effects are / digitally painted using Corel X4 / tints, gammas, and color corrections.. / and finishing touches in PS… and after several hours, / this is the final product…!!! / enjoy!!

  • ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Artist’s Notes: I’ve had this picture in my mind for quite awhile. As a child, my treasured stuffed animal (as all children tend to have) was a little squirrel who went on every kind of adventure with me, and my favorite story was about a lil’ squirrel named “Miss Suzy” – written by Miriam Young, and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. I love the thought of the tiny leaf-boat capturing the attention of the denizens of the pond as it passes by en route to a wonderous place. January 10th, 2009 – WOW!! Thank you so much for the front page feature!!! I’m so delighted! If you like Columbus – you might enjoy some of my other little animal works!! / / /

  • acrylic on paper edit digitally.

  • “I wouldn’t recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they’ve always worked for me.” Hunter S. Thompson (American Journalist and Author, 1937-2005)

  • Photo taken on one of my many fishing trips! Up Up And Away

  • I wonder where this path leads? During a motorcycle trip to Georgia, I passed by this scene and just had to turn around. The ground fog was just wicked, it was shrouding this path which I presume belongs to a rural farm. Taken with the Nikon D300 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. HDR processing and Orton effect applied, as well as some dodge & burn.

  • click feature buttons to view group/challenge / — / Koalas are at home at Cape Otway and as you drive in to, and out of, the lighthouse grounds there are many koalas in trees…and on the road! I snapped this mother carrying her baby after we nearly ran over them when we pulled over so I could get out and take shots of koalas in trees! I hadn’t seen koalas in the wild since I was a kid, so I was so excited…that I forgot to pay attention to framing or depth of field or anything technical (hence the massive crop…). The koalas along this stretch of road must be used to stopping traffic because after this shot was taken, she crossed the road, stopped in the middle of the road, posed (yes, posed, like in this picture!) for a few photos before running into the scrub. So, this was part of our road trip from Melbourne to Darwin via the Great Ocean Road and the red centre. This was about the seventh day I had my new DSLR (Nikon D90 – Tamron 17-50mm 2.8). UPDATED PIC: have adjusted the levels for sharper image. — / Other images taken in the Cape Otway Grounds / Click images to view / - / N.B. • Saint Mary’s Lake is in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. I believe I was rather lucky to get such a calm day as I witnessed here, since I was told that for quite some weeks they had been experiencing unusually bad weather for the time of year ! Glacier is an amazing place, with its primeval mountain shapes, and abundant wildlife, lakes and waterfalls, and many good trails. I was hearing the Elk bugling across the lake as I shot. I would recommend this magic place to anyone ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto WB, Raw file, processed in Adobe CS3, selective levels/curves and selective colour adjustments. I sharpened with Intellisharpen 2. FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/streams-brooks-creeks SEE MORE OF MY “USA” SET HERE …

  • The much photographed road shot, taken at sunrise. / All I had to do was get up early and wait for “it” to happen. / The early bird catches the worm ! Scanned from a Fuji Velvia transparency, image shot on my Ricoh KR10 super, mounted on a tripod and polariser fitted, f22, iso 50, don’t know the shutter speed ! / Scanned with my Nikon Coolscan VED into Adobe PS CS3, with a little dust and noise removal. • The Moulton Barn, Mormon Row, Teton National Park, Jackson, Wyoming, USA. I got up early for this one, I had travelled thousands of miles to see it, had only one morning to get my shot in the bag – and what did I find ? / A film crew shooting an advert ! Along with a battalion of other photographers, I was champing at the ‘bit’, since we weren’t allowed to shoot in case we captured the models – male and female – the whole darned thing was so artificial !! So, when there was a lull in shooting, I crept under a bush and hastily ‘snapped’ my shot. Maybe I should pursue a career in the ‘Paparazzi ??!!! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D with polarising filter attached, mounted very hastily on my tripod, Canon efs 18-55mm lens set at 45mm, underexposed by half a stop, f 27, 1/20 sec, auto wb, iso 100, RAW file developed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw, then in PS CS3, selective Levels/Curves, saturation of colours achieved with LAB colour, then the tiniest amount of Orton applied, to ‘pop’ the textures of the wood and grass.
