  • Sunrise on a very crisp March 26 morning in 2009. The pilots had already been puttering about in the cloud formations above the horizon and had painted a few streaks above them. I caught this glimpse of the sun coming up between an old run down barn and a cluster of trees near a wet road. I have altered the color of the sun and sky to emphasize the crispness of the morning. • Holy Trinket We wear our signs as though they tell / The story that our hearts / Display so well / In our own eyes, we think we see / An adorned approach / Announcing our pre-paid eternity Therefore, we take for granted as we adorn / The holy cross that took the scorn / And fit into our fashionable attire / God’s mighty trinkets that so inspire We embellish but do we really see / The sacrifices made for thee / And if asked why what would we tell / About the cross we wear so well © Hickerson
