Hosier Lane
by TrinxMy current favourite angle of Melbourne. Hosier Lane is FULL of collaborative art, it’s a real stand out faeture of this city, I tried to capture here the biggest chunck of the scene as i could.

This is a throw back to some earlier architectural photography I’ve done. I took this sometime in August, out in Richmond, off an amazingly bendy alley.

I think this place used to be the Carlton Brewery, the whole area that contained this place was strictly fenced off to the public, I snuck through an obviously man made hole near the right of this photo through the wooden part of the fence. I think the reason it’s off limits is because there’s a totally asbestos riddled building behind me in the image, I was safe where i was though! I really love photographing old derelict buildings like this one, it has some top notch graffiti, broken old relics from another era, and just a generally well aged feeling about the place. Totally worth breaking into!

Melbourne Doors – These two doors are actually separate but lie within the same alley within the CBD. I combined the two to include as much graffiti encroachment as possible! Hope you guys like it!

The leaves are easier to pick, the backdrop if you can’t tell’s the cracked remnents of an old tree stump, it had become grey enough to resemble what i wished it to – earth. The image is about life returning to the ground.

I’ve wanted to cartoon the CBD for ages, I’ve held off because it takes so damn long to complete with all the little details.

A face of a friend wearing a pair of 70’s sunnies belonging to my dad or mum, they seem to be back in vogue these days! The original photo was taken digitally, and then cartooned in my method to achieve the effect. / I think this works better in full colour as opposed to a previous attempt I made, plus the nose turned out much better – Tom Cartoon

I spent a bit longer on this digital drawing, but used essentially the same lighting and colouring as Tom / It’s tricky to maintain the essence of someone’s face from the original photo using this technique, usually it takes a while!

A double exposure juxterposing the side of a wooden cabinet with some untouched forrest. Camera: Mamiya c33 with Mamiya-sekor 80mm lens Exposure: The first exposure was eight secounds long at f22, of the wooden cabinet in my room. The secound exposure was 1/125 at f5.6 over at Melbourne’s Yarra Bend reserve or revegetation area. Film: Kodak 160VC (120mm) ISO 160 / .

The photograph this drawing is based on was a 35 mm slide I took about a year ago. Malvern road runs east to west, so the setting sun really perked up the colours inside and out of the tram. The tram was empty except for the driver, altough I think it’d help the scale of the image if there were some seated passengers. The image to me has a kind of manic state of mind attatched; everything is slightly off kilter, ultra saturated, and dazzling in some areas.

Flame Fancy
by TrinxLight painting with long matches around an old chair. I hosed the drive down with water so I could reflect light off it with a torch. This was originally a black and white shot, but I decided to infuse it with some wacky colours. Camera was my Mamiya C33, and film was ILFORD FP4
