A Shaman, Shapeshifter or Medicine Man shows his powers in a Sweatlodge Ceremony. Part of our culture and beliefs these symbols and ceremonies make us think inward reflecting on our selves, the world and the other world. dedicated to John Scott who inspired me to put these on clothing.
A contemporary depiction of a traditional Medicine Man or Shapeshifter and his metamorphosis from natural to supernatural. I used cubism to emphasize that change yet retaining a semblance of reality.

Early 2007… early days of painting… Sorry – I have to go look for this title too – but promise I will update accordingly. Yip – it’s another acrylic on canvas – quite a big one like 60×90 I think.
On the road to Barmer, we passed many small beautifull villages , in one i really like to stop cause the houses where amazingly decorated. While i was making some photos this men walked towards me and tried to see what i was doing. he stood next to me for maye 10 minutes, it was really funny cause he just stood there. For me he was pure beauty. Rajahstan, India / CanonEOS5D, Aperture 2.

A Palaung women from near Kalaw in Burma, looks from a window from her house. Traditional Palaung houses can be very large with scores of inhabitants. Palaung, related to Wa, speak a Mon-Khmer language and are one the original peoples of Burma. The women are renown for the rattan bands they wear around their waist. I have been told that without them they would float away.
Composite of two images, textured background with ink drawing overlayed. Another digital play/experiment.

Eagle medicine is the power of the Great Spirit. Eagles teach personal power, healing, and wisdom. Eagles are gifted with clear vision to truly see the things one sees. Within the belief systems of North American tribes, Eagle represents a state of grace achieved through hard work, understanding, and a completion of the tests of initiation which result in the taking of one’s personal power. It is only through the trial of experiencing the lows in life as well as the highs, and through the trial of trusting one’s connection to the Great Spirit, that the right to use the essence of Eagle medicine is earned. Eagles are the primary servant of Sun and protect against evil.
