Paperbark gum tree, with bark pealing off, and squiggley lines made by insects under the bark. Green is from leaves I shot thru to add to the effect.
Inspired by the Teddy Bear’s Picnic rhyme If you go down to the woods today, / You’re sure of a big surprise. / If you go down to the woods today, / You’d better go in disguise. / For every bear that ever there was / Will gather there for certain because / Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
A little river near my house. The colors looks smooth because of the thin fog ,nothing added ,untouched.
These beautiful pear trees bloomed in our backyard every spring when we lived on the little farm near Monroe, Wisconsin. Rendered in pastels, they turned out to be a perfect subject! This painting was awarded a “State Exhibit Award” on February 16, 2008, in the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association Program, which means it is eligible for the state competition in Fall 2008. Of all my recent artwork, this is the one of which I am most proud!

A large Neolithic long barrow near Rodmarton, Gloucestershire. The barrow was excavated in the Victorian period and artefacts removed before it was filled in again. There are at least three side chambers, though these have now collapsed. A retaining wall has been built around the barrow to prevent erosion.
I was going to work this morning and just had to pull over and capture this scene, hard to do from the side of a freeway shooting in between traffic but worth it I think.

This location at Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone National Park was really captivating as the evening light set off the colors of the orange and white terraces and the deep rich tones of the lodge pole pines. The remnants of trees are reported to be as much as 2000 years old but remain standing, preserved by the mineral deposits that flowed up from the hot interior of the earth which remains active from volcanoes that created this wonderland after erupting 600,000+ years ago. /

Part of a roadside marsh found in the Oka Provincial Park bordering the Lake of Two Mountains in Quebec, Canada. Taken just before sunset. There was activity in the area, ripples on the water and bird calls as we got out of the car, but the water eerily became quiet as I photographed.
A few hundred yards from Hadrian’s Wall in an area known as Walltown. These birch trees stood out in the sun against the dark storm clouds, it was a great excuse to stop climbing and take a picture!!
They were one of my father’s favorite fruits. I took this so I can think of him enjoying a good ripe pear.
