  • I spent Xmas and new year in Germany in the forest , this is what it looked like . This picture was taken in the “Taunus” mountain range, about 70km North West of Frankfurt. The next bigger towns are called “Weilburg” and “Braunfels” / —-—-—-—-—— / Sally Omar / got inspired by This work and wrote this Romantic Poem to go with this Image , Thank you my friend. FROZEN Two young friends walking through the woods / It was cold and the ground was FROZEN..the trees were iced / And they giggled and laughed as they usually would / They had been friends since they were children..always nice / But this one day would change their lives like no other / The Creator looked down with the warmth of his smile / And these two young friends turned out to be lovers / The Creator saw the love they shared within / The purity of the FROZEN earth and how they were glorified / In the beauty of this place and how they were without sin / His eyes sparkled as he looked at these young friends, he sighed / Such purity and love of the FROZEN land / They are so innocent and so in love with life / And they appreciate so the work of My Hand / He warmed their hearts as though they were on fire / Their first kiss was under a tree iced by the Creator’s bliss / And they looked at each other with such burning desire / They stood under the tree and could not again help but kiss / Then gazed at each other with complete surprise / Looked around at the FROZEN earth and it all came into view / They realized the iced beauty of this place opened their eyes / And looked at each other and said I love you / The story goes on to say they lived in love for all of their days / When they left this world to go on to the better Place / They were allowed to go to the Forest where they first fell in love / Where it was magnificently FROZEN and the trees iced and brisk / The Creator smiled again and watched from above / As they shared a beautiful wonderful last FROZEN kiss.

  • It was snowing heavily in late evening upon our arrival in St Johann, Austria. This lovely lone tree was full of snow and went straight into my must photograph journal, I decided to wait till morning to get the best light. The only thing that stopped my planned photograph, the morning rain. Although this shot was not what I was intending I am happy with the result as the mist did help in isolating the tree. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop, where had my camera been and OMG, how do I stop the sensor getting that dirty? • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK. Photographed from the car as that was the only place I could see to get the shot between the hedges without falling in a ditch. Plus it was cold and I’d rushed out of the house without a jumper. BGB Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/14, 1/200 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. I just had the sensor cleaned to this is straight form the camera. • This is a drive by shooting. On a coach to St. Johann, Austria, the coach driver was tearing around the smallest hair pin turns on tiny Alpine roads as if he was late for some dumpling festival. I had the camera out just in case we crashed and took this photo while waiting for the crunch. Luckily that never happened. I hope you like it. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 35mm, f/3.5, 1/1600 sec, ISO 1600. No filters used. A death speed coach window in the way. I evened out the chrome abs because of the high iso. • Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. This shot was taken in St Johann, Austria. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop. • / original drawing on A3 acid free cartridge paper A drawing which has been digitally coloured, in which a little friend of the forest is overwhelmly touched by the beauty of a particular very old and majestic tree. She spontaneously expresses her love and gratitude with a symbolic hug, revealing her love for her surrounds during a moonlit walk. Just the thing for friends, children, nursery, birthdays, special occasions and something a little different perhaps for an unusual Christmas card.

  • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. Just after stuffing the car into a ditch, through expert test driving on ice, ahem, actually practicing handbrake turns, oops. While deciding how to dig the car out on the ditch in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK, I noticed these lovely trees. / It was a fair old way into the middle of the field to get the right perspective but I’m glad I did. / I hope you like it. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 57mm, f/9, 1/400 sec, ISO 400. No filters used. Dust and scratches removed in PS. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.

  • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Mentmore, Bedfordshire, UK. I’m not sure I should have been there as it looked like a private golf club. There were keen golfers ready and willing to play with their orange balls and stern looks, probably due to my entrance – as I didn’t get onto the grounds the traditional way – I hoped they didn’t mind too much as I scampered back to the car. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 52mm, f/5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A nice sturdy but ice covered tripod. A keen sense of fun. A slight touchup job in CS4.
