  • The fall colours in Nova Scotia can be so beautiful. This picture was taken from a spot in West Pennant called Hospital Hill. Hospital Hill is a couple of miles back in the woods but well worth the hike! When you climb to the top of the hill the views are spectacular, ocean in one direction and hills in the other.

  • Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • One of our favorite campgrounds has this lovely little pond. I happened to catch it just right that day. You had to drive several miles on a very narrow twising road through the moutains of West Virginia to get there. Very nerve wracking, especially when you are pulling a trailer. Oh, and “Romance” is actually the name of the town! • Taken at Ritter Park at the peak of fall in Huntington, West Virginia. / Nikon D40 18-135mm / CPFilter /

  • Infrared Photography captured using a Nikon D80 Hoya IR filter. The long exposure created a nice movement style to the clouds. 10 sec – f5 / 18mm

  • Virginia City, Nevada Yashica Mat 124G and Tmax 100 film

  • Droving Sheep at Albert © / Vicki Ferrari Albert, New South Wales, Australia. This was taken in the township itself, opposite the Rabbit Trap Hotel. Taken using negs back in approximately 1987. This would have to be one of my favourite photographs! I have scanned the 8X12 print and done some minor touching up (typical neg dust and scratch) with photoshop but apart from that, this image is as it is! Hope you like this! And thank you for looking (and reading!) Framed Print / (psj2)

  • Abstract Macro Photography close up of an old, dead, decaying tree / armley woods / Leeds

  • Canon 50D | ISO 100 | f11 | 1/2 | 20mm About As predicted, my foggy landscape addiction continues. A bit of a story to this one. Mel S had a day off and I mentioned to her about this planned idea of mine. Keen for someone to come along to suss this place out, we agreed to meet just before the turnoff to the lake. I headed down the road towards the lake and missed the turn off, which was only about 1.5ks from the highway. My phone was dying and the reception was terrible. Oh by chance we passed each other and then headed back to find the road. Lost again and me with only a few litres of fuel left, we headed back to the fuel station. There we checked a map, found the road, found a way in and got in just as these colours were unfolding. An amazing place to visit, fog was rolling over the water and trees, and through the mountains. Processing A little bit of work on this one, but not much. A quick crop to straighten the horizon. Matt’s Grad Filter to pop out the sky nicely. Punch Preset in LR2, followed by some curves and Camera Calibration set to Landscape. Into PS for some soft light. Some Brightness in LR2 and a little negative Clarity to counter some over zealous amounts. And Sharpen Landscapes preset in LR2.

  • Canon 50D | ISO 100 | f11 | 2.5 | 10mm About Lake Moogerah ah la Lake Fog. The sun was rising to the left, but the colours in the sky, oh my. A very dominating foreground, perhaps too much so. Processing HDR (-1, 0, +1). Processed in Photomatix and then back to LR2 and PS for some Soft Light, sharpening and clarity.

  • Suisinish is an abandoned village reached after a rough hour- long walk from Kilbride, near Torrin, Isle of Skye. / This old cottage is too modern to have been one of the dwellings where the folk were evicted to make way for the sheep, which were more profitable to the greedy landowners of the time. Many of the families were separated, and forced to emigrate to America, Canada, and Australia. / I cannot begin to feel their anguish. / There are many ruins scattered around the Brae (hillside), evidence of a thriving, close-knit community torn apart by human greed. Maybe this bulding was built early in the twentieth century, I have no idea and can find no information. / Back to the present….. / There was quite a wait for some usable light, a chilly fierce wind was blowing, rain was brewing, nothing new ! We sat in the shelter of one of those deserted ruins, eating a cheese piece, ( sandwich ) and a cheering cup of hot coffee from the thermos, reflecting on how ‘they’ lived then, compared to us nowadays, and watching the sheep that are now the only inhabitants of this beautiful place. / Rowan trees were planted in the belief they kept evil spirits away, and it is considered very bad luck to cut one down, even today ! This cottage is surrounded by them, I guess the magic didn’t work. A three shot HDR. CanonEOS 40D mounted on tripod, iso 100, auto wb, f22, RAW files converted in Photomatix, and touched up in Adobe CS3. / A little Orton also applied to ‘pop’ the texture of the stone. / A slight vignette added.
