A misty day in May on my property…... Featured in Fantasy Fine Art Composites May 09 / Misty / Look at me, / I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree / And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud / I can’t understand, / I get misty just holding your hand Walk my way, / And a thousand violins begin to play / Or it might be the sound of your hello / That music I hear, / I get misty the moment you’re near You can say that you’re leading me on / But it’s just what I want you to do / Don’t you notice how hopelessly I’m lost / That’s why I’m following you On my own, / Would I wander through this wonderland alone / Never knowing my right foot from my left / My hat from my glove / I’m too misty, and too much in love / / Johnny Mathis

Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John

mixed media on wood. 24” x 36” i keep a grey bin full of photo copies, pictures cut out from magazines, polaroids, various papers, etc. as i work, i dig through it looking for elements that will fit in, compliment, or otherwise enhance the outcome of the painting… the leaves fall to the hard soil as winter sets in / there is an echo / hunger and longing drowns / and drowns / the night grows longer / a restless mind does not sleep / a thin blue-grey welcomes the dawn / the weary returns to the cave

This was one of the most awesome sunsets I have stood around for – way out in the interior. The tree was so arresting in silhouette and the light was pooling more and more intensely. It was actually raining slightly. / And I was getting nibbled at by turtles in the water as I clicked away over that magic hour.
The sky is filled with windswept clouds behind an old weathered tree.

The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John
