Somebody suggested that I make this into a holiday card…I had already beaten her to the punch ;-). Photographed in Chester, VT
Oil painting from a photograph taken in / late Summer in southern Vermont (USA). / A red-tailed hawk had been perched on / the fence post and was the reason for / my stopping to take the photo. The / hawk flew off before I could set the / camera. It still left me with a great basis / for a painting of one of the most / picturesque parts of New England.
Taken at the B&B in the wondrously green hills of VT, just before the sun went behind the hills. Touched up some. Enjoy!

A humbling, yet connected feeling … to realize one is part of such a glorious tapestry of life. Even in the smallness of our relative being bodies, we are ever connected to the grand scope of Life. Standing next to an immense tree friend in its’ autumnal state, looking out over a vast field of green. Range after range of mountains from one spot, one captured moment. One moment, one viewfinder’s length and width, just one of the myriad of glorious vistas, valleys, peaks and waterways in Vermont alone. One range captured in this photo is the Worcester Range, looking towards Stowe. Knowing that some of these mountains are 3,000 feet (or more – some reaching heights of more than 4,000 feet) above sea level. Best Viewed Large, for full viewing enjoyment Photo taken October 21, 2007.
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.“ John Muir Photo taken at Groton State Forest, Vermont, October 2008. Owl’s Head Trail.
Another photo that I have taken of our beautiful foliage, this one I gave a mosaic treatment to, view this large to see it at it’s best :)
“When no one is looking, / I swallow deserts and clouds / and chew on mountains / knowing they are sweet bones! / When no one is looking / and I want to kiss God, / I just lift my own hand to my mouth.“ Hafiz Photo taken at Groton State Forest, Vermont, October 2008. Owl’s Head Trail.
The beauty of fall just amazes me. How vibrant the colors are here in vermont.
Leaves in the swamp with the reflection of birch trees. Beauty, fall, season coming to an end and the soon beginning of winter. This time of year has fabulous energy and feel.

Taken in Pownal, VT March 2009. This barn is a large art and crafts studio on the way from Williamstown MA to Bennington VT. The red bush and windows caught my eye. / Processed in Aperture 2. (c) Jeannette Sheehy 2009
