A clearing in the trees reveals a small shack, a 50cc motorcycle and plenty of green plants. This was discovered in the depths of the Rainforest Biodome at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

This particular Ruin is located at Mesa Verde National Park….. very interesting history…. Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to A.D. 1300. Today, the park protects over 4,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States. /

This image was taken last week in New Mexico, up near the / Ancient Clliff Dwellings of the Mogollen people. Throughout the park there are reconstructed log cabins of the type thought to be used during the encampment, including a larger log cabin hospital. Earthworks, for the never needed defense of the encampment, are visible, including four redoubts, the ditch for the Inner Line Defenses, and a reconstructed abbatis. The original redoubts and several redans on Route 23, Outer Line Drive, and Inner Line Drive were covered with sod to preserve them, but they are currently in need of further restoration. The original forges, located on Valley Creek, were burned by the British three months prior to Washington’s occupation of the Park area. However, neither the Upper Forge site nor the Lower Forge site have been reconstructed. There are also several historical buildings that have not been made open to the public because of reasons such as their current state of disrepair. These include: Lord Stirling’s Quarters, Knox’s Quarters, and the Von Steuben Memorial. Other historical buildings include the P.C. Knox Estate and Potts’ Barn.

Steve’s_Biography The koala is a small bear-like, tree-dwelling, herbivorous marsupial which averages about 9kg (20lb) in weight. Its fur is thick and usually ash grey with a tinge of brown in places. The koala gets its name from an ancient Aboriginal word meaning “no drink” because it receives over 90% of its hydration from the Eucalyptus leaves (also known as gum leaves) it eats, and only drinks when ill or times when there is not enough moisture in the leaves, ie during droughts etc. The koala is the only mammal, other than the Greater Glider and Ringtail Possum, which can survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves.

© 2009 RC deWinter – All Rights Reserved ~ The seventeenth image in “The Journey” series. ~ More from Everyman: “All the remaining day after finding the stone my outlook brightened with hope. If the message was true, it was necessary for me to approach my journey with greater attention and appreciation. This was easy to do while the sun still shone; however, as evening approached, the sky clouded over. I feared another drenching, but instead the clouds resolved into a woolly fog that swirled around me and obliterated most of what I could observe on either side of me off the path. My forward vision was also severely curtailed, and I began to worry that I would be unable to find a suitable resting place for the night. As darkness swallowed what remained of the light, thoughts of the perils of unexpected cliffs or deep declivities in the earth overwhelmed my earlier optimism, and I weighed the risks of venturing away from the road against the sure discomfort of trying to sleep on the hard dirt and pebbles of the path. As I debated with myself over which to do, a shimmer of light broke through the mists. I knew whatever was glowing palely in the fog could not be far off, for the thickness of the atmosphere would not have allowed even the strongest beam to penetrate a great distance. I hurried my pace slightly, still careful to be attentive to the conditions and direction of the road but anxious to discover the source of the unexpected illumination. Not more than ten minutes passed before I was able to discern a sliver of silver moon and the outline of a great estate surrounded by lawn and by trees, because from the side of what I took to be the of the main hall, an imposing ornate window of jewel-colored leaded glass was shining. It must have been a great fire inside to throw off such brightness into the gloom, and I hoped that I would safely find the entrance and be welcomed in to spend the night.”
