This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

This old trawler was brought ashore many years ago during a massive tide..It seems it will never see the sea again, destined to turn into a rusting hunk over how ever many years into the future…Quite a bit history about this here boat actually…I do have a colored version back in my recent PF, but the subject just cries out for a mono workover…..cheers for looking.

I took this shot in one of the many outport communities along Newfoundland’s Avalon Penninsula. There were so many of these crabpots stacked along side many different sheds. / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

This Hull fishing trawler was blown up in Norway, to prevent the guns etc it was carrying for the resistance, falling into German hands. / Painted for the son of the coxswain.

This is a shot of a small coastal community called Tors Cove. The water was so clear and the colors were incredible. I spent awhile here just photographing everything I could see lol. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

I was able to get home for Christmas to spend a week at my parent’s cabin at Apollo Bay. If you squint hard enough you can see it at the base of the hills in the background. The afternoon of this photo I got on my bike and headed up the Barham River Tourist Drive to get some shots of the surrounding hills in the golden light. On the way out I got this shot and I think it lines up nicely. It’s very typical of the region and that’s why my parents love it so much here. It’s charming. Date Picture Taken: 30/12/2007 / Camera: Canon EOS 350D / Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM / Shutter Speed: 1/50 sec / Lens Aperture: f/9 / Focal Length: 85mm / ISO Speed: 100 / Polarising Filter

This is a shot of a little place called Quidi Vidi. I went for a walk around the tiny harbor and came upon this rickety wharf. I took the shot at this slanted angle just to see how it would turn out. Hope you like it. / / Alternate version of Rickety Wharf / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

This is replacing a previous version I had uploaded. I applied a ND filter to it to make the fog thicker and sharpened it up a bit more.
