One of a series of shots that I’ve been taking for a competition (and for fun, of course). The theme is “O Cotidiano”, which means “Routine”, or “Everyday Life” in Portuguese. Fingers crossed. :)

Taken April 14, 2006 with a Fuji E-510 (as shown in the reflection :P). I took this while I was on top of Sulfer Mountain in Banff National Park (Banff, Alberta, Canada) during the winter. There was a little cabin, and it’s interior can be seen inside my reflection in the window. Meanwhile the outdoor activity outside the cabin is reflected around my body. Looking back at this it sorta reminds me of the painting by Edouard Manet “A Bar at the Folies-Bergere” where the world the bar tendor is looking down on is reflected in the mirror behind her. Although not intended, many stories can be interpreted from this; and whatever that maybe, I’ll leave that up to the viewer :) This work has been featured in: / Weekly Them Challenges Actually it’s a funny story; I entered my work into that group to enter it into the Cameras challenge, and it was approved only after the voting had already started. Seeing as this particular group approves work based on the challenges it’s a bit strange that happened. Well I decided to let that go; it wasn’t a big deal. But two days after the challenge closed this work got featured among with the top ten :o)

These shutters once protected the contents of the tall, narrow warehouses that stand along the canals of Amsterdam. Most of these warehouses are now converted to flats and apartments yet the shutters remain as a lovely architectural detail. Featured in the “Mood & Ambience- Strictly Photos” group in April, 2009 /
As the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe, Ike (Dwight D. Eisenhower) would have been very familiar with the colour orange during the liberation of Holland. Orange is the colour of the Dutch royal family (House of Orange) ; the Dutch people show their ``orange`` and sing ``Oranje Boven`` both on the Queen`s birthday and on Liberation Day.

Nature’s window in Kalbarrii National Park was my final destination of my short three days road trip in Western Australia. Well, I picked up some brochures in a hotel in Perth, and all I could find there for a day trip were either The Pinnacles or Margaret River. That’s how I made my plan, you can read about it here if you like. Kalbarri was around 700 kilometeres away and even though I really wanted to get there, I wasn’t sure if it was wise to get on such a long journey in three days. Well, as you can see from the title, I made it, and it is a magnificent place that I would love to visit again, with better planning next time! :-)) Thank you for looking, few more photos to come and needless to say, better viewed large I will finish the Journey installments for anyone interested, soon :-)) Canon 5D, / Canon EF 24-105 IS Lens, / Apperture: F 11, / Speed: 0.8 seconds, / FL: 24 / Filter: Hoya circular polariser

I captured this photograph as I was doing another project and this photograph really stood out. The natural side lighting on the models face is perfect and I like the way the two oranges match.
