  • The basic pose was inspired by some painting, or whatever it was, called something like ‘The Forsaken’. It was of a boy elf (I think) with a sword, who was growing into a tree. This is not a boy, or elf, there is no sword and she is not growing into a tree, but merely resting against it. The style is not at all the same, either. The character may just be the princess from my stories, or she might not be. That’s between her and you, really. Personally, I think she is some other princess, maybe the one who becomes Queen Ardeliah; but, who am I to argue with royalty?

So, my CD player disappeared, completely. This was after I uninstalled some things, so, I thought – appaently, foolishly- that I had uninstalled the wrong thing or more. I did a System Restore and all was well. My ‘D’ Drive was back and I went off to do my work, secure in the knowledge that I’d be saving my art to disk, again, in no time. Ah, but, not so! For when I went to do so, I found that the ‘D’ Drive had gone off for holiday, again. This time, though i had uninstalled some things, I was quite sure that I hadn’t uninstalled anything that could remotely relate to that particular function. I mentioned it to Dad and he told me that this is something WIndows Vista is known for, and it’s why he switched to Linux. Fine and dandy for him, but, I don’t have spare OS files of every sort just laying about waiting for me to use! I went to look up the problem and how to fix it. Now, there was someone who said there is a Registry Fix, and they gave it, saying that all you had to do was import it and all would be well. Oh goody! Import it where and how, though? That was the mystery! I went to Microsoft and they told me how to fix my problem on Windows XP. Err. .. Eventually, they told me how to fix it on Windows Vista, as well. So, I went to regedit and did all the appropriate things. Found out I had to log on to a different account, even though the Administrator had used their password to give me permission to change things about. I know! I was there! In more than one capacity! So, I logged on and found my way back to the proper place. I even remembered to save a copy of the instructions in a place where I could find it, to make sure it was the proper place, and the URL, too. You would have been so proud! Then I did all the proper things, and I know, because I opened the file to check! Finally, I restarted the computer (technically, one of the proper things to do), logged in again, and … I had two ‘D’ Drives showing. No, I am not kidding! That issue resolved itself, after a wee while, though. Now, however, my volume control is gone! Fortunately, I had it set to a sound level where music and such can be heard, but, where it is not painful to the tired-headed among us. I would like my volume control back, though. Anyone seen it? It’s light gray, usually, and slides up and down in the middle! .................................................................................. Update: One reboot = no volume bar; 2 reboots = volume bar!

  • Image captured in a rural village in Laos. Laos was a French colony at the start of the 20th century. It was a union of two former kingdoms, Luang Prabang and Vientiane. The French administered it as a territory within the protectorate of French Indo-China. After World War II, French Indo-China was divided up into three independent countries within the French Union: Cambodia, Laos (independent on 1949-07-19), and Vietnam.
