Addiction, a word we all know. A recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity. Surrounded by a society filled with victims we deal with in every day of our lives. . A term often reserved for drug addictions it is sometimes applied to other compulsions. It is often the gilded cage of our own creation. I have long held a fascination with the sinographs of Chinese Writing. To be even reasonably fluent in this script one must memorize from 3 to 4 thousand of these detailed logographs. A Kangxi dictionary contains approximately 47,000 distinct characters.

literally…..well ok maybe metaphorically as well….. I had a studio in the building on the right of your screen for nearly four years and it was a great studio in a complex of some dozens of other artists….. but it was located in the utter bowels of the inner city…. in the back of the industial estates and railway lines…. leaving there late at night was spooky to say the least …... here I’ve taken a quick snap out the window of the car as I left very very late one night….. this is the studio where I obsessed about Antarctica and this year past I achieved that goal… exactly this time last year I was in there in the frozen fairyland as an artist….. now I have a new goal….. wish me luck…..:)

Recently there’s been a spate of crocodile attacks here in Australia. / / Just last weekend, 11 year old Birony Goodsell was dragged underwater by one and never resurfaced. / / If feel deeply sorry for her and even worse for her family but for crying out loud, she was swiming in our most dangerous state, in a place called Black Jungle Swamp. / / That’s just asking for it. / / So now authorities are setting traps to catch and kill these so called ‘menacing’ crocodiles. / / Fair enough but I think it’s important for all of us to remember that we don’t own this planet. We share it with millions of other species and we have to learn and teach our children to respect them and their rights. / / I’m doing this art to present the lighter side of these primordial creatures and point out that they aren’t menacing. They’re just hungry. / /
