Took this on Stockton Bight, a long series of sand dunes that stretch from Anna Bay to Newcastle. These traps were placed to protect Williamtown air base (I believe) during World War II. 26km or so of these, 2m high concrete reinforced pyramids, and now all you can find is this small group, situated in a sand blow. Even they come and go depending on the wind. We took a tour from Anna bay, to see the tank traps, tin city and the wreck of the Sygma(?) Same view everyday. Wish they’d point me somewhere interesting. I mean… how hard would it be to leave my frame pointed at some wonder of the world? But no.. I have to spend my life looking at the kitchen. I rarely bother to look out now. Hardly seems worth the effort.

Two leaves cast to the wind only to be rescued from the rushing water by a rock. A metaphor for life and way we can be cast to the winds of change and hustle and rush of everyday life. Yet one can find peace in our faith if we seek it. Refuge from the flood, the flow the busy lives we lead. It was dark. And the smell of death hung heavy in the damp, stagnant air. I knew it wasn’t safe, but the promise and the temptation pulled me forward… deeper and deeper until I was in way too far to turn back. Suddenly she was upon me, the manifestation of my dreams surrounding me in multiple visions of my burning lust… but turned against me with the force of a thousand demons and sinking sharp into my taut skin like steel rivets… There was no escape this time. These tank traps were placed along the length of Stockton Bight during WW II.
